This week 20 leading ecosystem builders from 13 European countries came together in the second #RiseEurope Summit in Madrid and Segovia, hosted by @iescitech. The goal was to define the next steps and strategy for vision in Europe 2030 of the second year of Rise Europe to empower and support European tech start-ups. " Government and private sector collaboration : The Panamanian Tribunal Electoral, the country’s electoral body, is also responsible for issuing national ID cards, and will oversee the rollout of the new digital IDs. The Tribunal has worked closely with tech companies to ensure the security and efficiency of the ID card system. Notably, Mühlbauer Group won the joint award for the best new ID card for the Panamanian identity card in June 2024, alongside the Electoral Tribunal and the National Registry Directorate. This builds upon earlier efforts, including MasterCard’s collaboration with the Panamanian government in 2021, to introduce a digital ID system. Panama’s digital identity program also uses an Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) developed by Innovatrics. Following a successful tender process, a consortium led by Veridos, with IECISA as the integrator and Innovatrics as the biometric technology provider, was selected to replace the current supplier. Since 2020, this system has powered biometric verification for national ID holders, and Innovatrics also supported Panama’s civil registry system. " ...

"Piracy Combat and New TV Consumption Models"   Recently, Javier Tebas, President of the Spanish Football League, undoubtedly the most influential in terms of entertainment content and commercial value of its broadcasting rights, reaffirmed his stance to toughen actions against piracy.   In parallel, statements were also made by Miguel Ángel Loor, President of the Ecuadorian League, who likewise called for criminal penalties against electronic media that transmit sports piracy.   In both cases, fans flocked to social media platforms to express their annoyance and mockery towards both presidents, alluding to the unfair relationship between the low-quality service provided by cable operators and pay per view services  in comparison to the high price they must pay to watch their favorite sports.   The debate closely resembles the tumultuous scenario of the music industry in the early 21st century, concerning the phenomenon that would forever transform the way the world listens to and enjoys music. The curtain rose in 2006, in vibrant Sweden, where Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon conceived a bold vision: Spotify. The foundations of this company were built on the ruins of digital chaos, marked by the turmoil generated by Napster in 1999, a revolutionary pioneer that opened the floodgates of digital music with free downloads, triggering a storm of legal disputes over copyright. This tempest continued with platforms like The Pirate Bay, which challenged the foundations of intellectual property.   Relatively similar was the phenomenon of Uber challenging the conventional transportation system, as in 2009 Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp were not exempt from being the target of numerous lawsuits as the company expanded globally, facing fierce resistance from taxi unions and municipal regulations. At @CES finding these types of robots is not an exceptions this year. AI has been of course a hot topic, but robots as well, specially applied to prostetics, health and sports and as compagnions. I have experienced the results of focus on specific problem solving, dedication and investment on experimentation and research. Innovation is not a one time only try. Continous curiosity with a result driven experimentation method can bring to spectacular results. Certainly the humanoid gestures and the looks in this robot are remarkable!

Tenerife will stage the dialogue between technologies like AI and Metaverse in the making Cities Smarter. Digital Twin Cities need to add the human layer to really stand as twin version simply because every city is above all a place where people live. To do so, Metaverse is the only way for real people experience both the “city as is” and the “city to be” while AI learn about behaviors and how local societies self-organise. From this combination, cognitive systems will humanize cities. Technology will only be humanized if we let people collectively teach tech to be human sustainably.
