Conclusion of the BCN Health Booster accelerator! Three years boosting innovation 🤝 The Parc Científic de Barcelona has hosted the closing ceremony of the BCN Health Booster, a programme that has supported innovative startups in the health sector for the last three years. Promoted by the Barcelona Science Park, the Universitat de Barcelona and the Ajuntament de Barcelona, with the support of Biocat, BioRegion of Catalonia, it has proved to be a growth engine. With a total funding of 107.5 million euros raised, the 11 participating companies have obtained 66 granted patents. The day has included witnesses from startup CEOs, highlighting the impact of the programme on their development. Biocat has played a key role in this initiative, offering personalized mentoring to each startup, providing specialized training in entrepreneurship and technical aspects, and facilitating strategic connections with investors and key industry players. Rafael Moreno from PONTI & PARTNERS discussed the use of patented products in scientific research and exceptions allowing legitimate use. 🔹 Innovation | The Tech Spirit Barcelona – Health Edition 2025 showcased technology applied to Life Sciences, gathering leaders in healthcare innovation. The HBA activity, which concluded yesterday, featured a “Case Study: Pharma 4.0 Transformation” from MIGSO-PCUBED. 🔹 Innovation | Attendees discovered BASID, Barcelona’s private hub for life sciences, and learned about impactful personalized medicine projects. 🚀 Catalonia’s Biotech Hub Gears Up for #BIOSPAIN2025 Yesterday, Javier Padilla, the Secretary of State for Health of the Government of Spain joined the official presentation of BIOSPAIN Barcelona 2025, organized by AseBio - Asociación Española de Bioempresas in collaboration with Biocat, BioRegion of Catalonia, the Government of Catalonia, and the Ajuntament de Barcelona. 🌍 AseBio - Asociación Española de Bioempresas and Biocat present Biospain 2025 in Barcelona BIOSPAIN Barcelona 2025 was presented today to more than a hundred professionals from the biotechnology sector. The event was attended by Javier Padilla, Secretary of State for Health of the Spanish Government; Joan Romero i Circuns, representing the Generalitat de Catalunya; Jordi Valls, representing the Ajuntament de Barcelona; Rocio Arroyo, president of AseBio - Asociación Española de Bioempresas; and Robert Fabregat, CEO of Biocat. In addition, a round table, moderated by Ion Arocena, CEO of AseBio, has been organized with the participation of Ysios Capital, 3PBIOVIAN and Nostrum Biodiscovery to talk about their experience as participants in previous editions of Biospain. According to Robert Fabregat Fuentes “the Catalan ecosystem is an international leader in the business, scientific and health fields. From Biocat we work to promote its growth, improve the health system and accelerate the arrival of new technologies to patients. This new edition will be decisive to generate business opportunities and facilitate collaboration between all the agents in the sector's value chain and, therefore, to accelerate the arrival of new technologies to the market and to patients” 📈 The next edition is expected to match the record figures of 2023: ✅ +2,200 professionals from 34 countries ✅ +5,000 one-on-one meetings ✅ +81 national and international investors In addition, the focus on green biotechnology is expanded and Switzerland will be the guest country. 📅 7 and 9 October 2025.
