The interconnected porous structure was obtained using a template of sintered PMMA microspheres of controlled size. Copolymerization of hydrophobic ethyl acrylate and hydrophilic hydroxyethyl methacrylate comonomers took place in the free space of the template, different comonomer ratio gave rise to different hydrophilicity degrees of the material keeping the same pore architecture. The morphology of the resulting scaffolds was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the porosity of the material calculated, and the mechanical properties compared with those of the bulk (non porous) material of the same composition. date: 2005-08-01 date_type: published id_number: 10.1007/s10856-005-2604-7 uniqueid: glaseprints:2005-76795 issn_online: 1573-4838 scopus_impact: 17 scopus_cluster: 2-s2.0-21344457900 scopus_datestamp: 2013-10-26 09:28:06 wos_impact: 13 wos_cluster: WOS:000229902200001 wos_datestamp: 2013-05-21 22:55:20 full_text_status: none publication: Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Medicine volume: 16 number: 8 pagerange: 693-698 refereed: TRUE issn: 0957-4530 hoa_compliant: 305 hoa_date_pub: 2005-08-01 hoa_exclude: FALSE hoa_gold: FALSE citation: Brígido Diego, R., Pérez Olmedilla, M., Serrano Aroca, A., Gómez Ribelles, J.L., Monleón Pradas, M., Gallego Ferrer, G. and Salmeron-Sanchez, M.
