In this paper, we provide a theoretical basis for the characterization of the nonlinear electroelastic properties of these materials. The theory is then applied to some simple prototype boundary-value problems in order to illustrate the effect of an electric field on the mechanical response. date: 2005 date_type: published id_number: 10.1007/s00707-004-0202-2 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00707-004-0202-2 uniqueid: glaseprints:2005-59621 issn_online: 1619-6937 scopus_impact: 109 scopus_cluster: 2-s2.0-15544384032 scopus_datestamp: 2013-05-23 05:04:46 wos_impact: 110 wos_cluster: WOS:000227999700003 wos_datestamp: 2013-10-25 08:26:53 full_text_status: none publication: Acta Mechanica volume: 174 number: 3-4 pagerange: 167-183 refereed: TRUE issn: 0001-5970 hoa_compliant: 305 hoa_date_pub: 2005 hoa_exclude: FALSE hoa_gold: FALSE citation: Dorfmann, A. and Ogden, R.W.
