Verso free ebook (until 20 April).

Something I thought you might be interested in (if you dodn't already know), Verso are giving out free ebook copies of "People’s History of the World, From the Stone Age to the New Millennium" (2017) Chris Harman until April 20th. Go to the ebook tab on the webpage linked to above. The offer came up on Verso's Twitter feed.     ←   ZScarpia   23:40, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Hi Jontel. Thanks for clearing up after me at Panorama that reads much better now. I generally know what I want to say, but I struggle to concisely articulate it. Is it best if I take my proposed edits to the article talk page, as opposed to launching my ramblings into the article? At least until I'm more confident? --DeltaSnowQueen (talk) 11:23, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DeltaSnowQueen, I would not worry too much about not getting it right first time. People will generally appreciate that you have taken the time to spot the need for a change, done the research, added a draft and added sourcing, rather than criticising an addition, even if they think it could be better. They will find it easier to amend your addition on the page, rather than discuss it on the talk page. The talk page is really for sorting out disagreements or discussing really major changes. I would suggest two things to improve your edits ( I do them): 1) look at what else is on the page and similar pages first, for style tips, and 2) first type an edit into your sandbox and amend it where you can see improvements. If you are uncertain about it, save it. You can then come back to look at it at a later time and tweak it some more. There is no deadline. You then only add it to the article once are satisfied with it. Good luck! Jontel (talk) 11:41, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your advice, I'll take that on board. I'll get better. Eventually. --DSQ 12:03, 28 April 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by DeltaSnowQueen (talkcontribs)

Alert

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in the Arab–Israeli conflict. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.
