Gunman enters Pennsylvania hospital ICU, kills officer before police fatally shoot him

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. EST (1530 UTC) on February 15, a gunman entered the intensive care unit (ICU) at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York, Pennsylvania, taking hospital staff hostage at gunpoint. Before being shot dead, he fatally wounded backup officer Andrew Duarte, 30, of the West York Borough Police Department, and injured multiple others, including police officers, a nurse, a doctor, and a custodian.
