bytte
Danish
editPronunciation
editEtymology 1
editFrom Middle Low German bǖte, of uncertain ultimate origin; possibly a Celtic borrowing, from Proto-Celtic *boudi (“victory, booty, spoils”). If so, related to the name of Boudica, a British Celtic queen.
This source is comparable to German Beute, late Old Norse býti, and Swedish byte; also French butin (hence English booty).

editbytte n (singular definite byttet, not used in plural form)
