This council, set to convene in mid-June, will include representatives from the aviation and petroleum industries. https://lnkd.in/gj3K5qYw The shortage, caused by issues such as aging refinery infrastructure and a surge in inbound travel demand, has led to several international airlines canceling new routes and increasing flights to Japanese airports. In response, MLIT and the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) will collaborate with airlines and oil companies to discuss immediate measures. The council will also address the so-called "2024 problem," which involves a shortage of tankers and personnel needed to transport aviation fuel from refineries to airports. On 21st June 2024, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (“DGCA”) revised the Civil Aviation Requirement (“CAR”) Section 3, Series C Part IX dealing with minimum safety requirements for seaplane operations. In an attempt to boost seaplane operations, it has made various changes. Some of them are (i) ability for prospective seaplane operator to obtain AOP as a scheduled air transport service (passenger); (ii) revisions to pilot qualification; (iii) contents of operations manual detailed in Annexure 1, detailed seaplane operating procedures in Annexure 2, detailed passenger briefings in Annexure 3 and requirement for site selection, specification and operations of water aerodromes in Annexure 4 of the CAR, etc. The revised CAR is attached herewith. #sarinlaw #avgeek

The #Pakistan Navy's (PN) first MILGEM corvette -- PNS Babur -- is coming home, with its crews undergoing training and drills on the way. In our analysis we examine how the MILGEM corvette fits in the PN's wider modernization efforts, which involve the procurement of new frigates (Type 054A/P and AS3400/Jinnah-class) and submarines (Hangor and SWATS). In some ways, the MILGEM design mirrors some of the goals the US had set out with the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program. We posit that, perhaps, the PN will use the MILGEM as the focal point of its own littoral anti-access and area-denial (A2/AD) goals where it will work closely with FAC(M), land-based AShMs, and shallow-water attack submarines (SWATS). The first of the Scandinavian Cessnas are expected to be converted from 2026 once Dovetail secures regulatory certification of its battery-electric powertrain, which will be test flown next year on an amphibious Cessna Caravan operated by Australia’s Sydney Seaplanes, a co-founder of Dovetail. 🔶️Hungary | Wizz Air announced a goal of powering 10% of its flights with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by 2030. 🤝 Airbus and ZeroAvia have signed Memoranda of Understanding with Canada’s three busiest airports—Montréal–Trudeau, Toronto Pearson, and Vancouver International—to explore the feasibility of establishing hydrogen infrastructure, aimed at decarbonizing aviation and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. “We know when it comes to climate change, aviation isn’t the enemy, carbon is. Looking into the feasibility of airports as Hydrogen Hubs is an important step on the journey to net zero carbon emissions," said Tamara Vrooman, President and CEO at Vancouver International Airport.
