Increasingly, MAGA Republicans associated with Trump are convinced he is going to lose the election. But they have a backup plan to put him in the White House no matter what. And that plan even has a second backup plan of its own. The three states most likely to swing the election in the Electoral College this year are Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. And, just by coincidence of course, Republicans in those state passed laws in 2020 guaranteeing election day chaos around their vote counting this November 5th. Like Bush, Trump lost the election in 2016 by three million votes. But in five swing states — focused on by Vladimir Putin and Jill Stein — he was able to eke out a tiny Electoral College win. And then everybody forgot he had lost by 3 million votes. Tip your hat to our media. This year, Republicans are again counting on the Electoral College (and Jill Stein, Putin, and Elon Musk) as their first line of defense, focusing billions of dollars on a handful of swing states with ads that range from deceptive to outright lies. It’s all backed up by a massive Russian effort on social media. As Joyce Vance noted today at her excellent Civil DiscourseSubstack newsletter: “This cycle, Republicans are filing so many meritless cases that it’s fair to wonder if their goal isn’t to win legitimate cases at all. Those cases are useful as a way to try and convince voters, in advance of the election, that the system is rigged against Trump.”

OFQUAL accredit investigators. OFQUAL is a government agency. CQC is a government agency. Why aren’t CQC investigators trained and qualified to OFQUAL minimum standards? Sector Reacts to CQC’s Damning Report The UK Government has admitted that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is “not fit for purpose”, https://buff.ly/3So66va with the release today of an interim report from Dr Penny Dash chairwoman of the North West London Integrated Care Board. In response, Kate Terroni, pic on file interim CQC chief executive, following previous chief executive Ian Trenholm’s sudden departure said: "We accept in full the findings and recommendations in this interim review, which identifies clear areas where improvement is urgently needed.” “Many of these align with areas we have prioritised as part of our work to restore trust with the public and providers by listening better, working together more collaboratively and being honest about what we’ve got wrong. We are working at pace and in consultation with our stakeholders to rebuild that trust and become the strong, credible, and effective regulator of health and care services that the public and providers need and deserve. "Work is underway to improve how we're using our new regulatory approach. We’ve committed to increasing the number of inspections we are doing so that the public have an up-to-date understanding of quality and providers are able to demonstrate improvement.” "We’re increasing the number of people working in registration so we can improve waiting times. We’re working to fix and improve our provider portal, and this time we’ll be listening to providers and to our colleagues about the improvements that are needed and how we can design solutions together. We’ll be working with people who use services and providers to develop a shared definition of what good care looks like. Industry leaders and organisations have responded to the findings and the news that an ongoing and government-commissioned independent review of the regulator, Melanie Weatherley MBE, Chair of the Lincolnshire Care Association, said: "We welcome the interim report from Dr Penny Dash, and as a representative of care providers we have been raising concerns about the CQC for a number of months. Call For General Election To Kick-Start Care Reform The country needs a General Election to save social care after another damning report exposed the sorry state of the sector, campaigners have said. A new report from the Local Government Association (LGA) highlights severe funding shortages, difficulties in staff recruitment, growing complexity of care needs and an inability to invest in preventative care. And it warns that a third of councils fear they will fail to meet the legal duties they were set under the Care Act, 10 years ago. The social care provider organisation, The Independent Care Group (ICG) says the report holds no surprises and that sweeping changes are long overdue. ICG Chair Mike Padgham said: “Today’s report from the LGA is depressingly familiar – we have seen dozens of these, all painting the bleakest of pictures of social care delivery over the past decade and more. “What it tells me is that we need change and we need it now.” “We are promised a General Election so let us have that without delay and let us hear from the political parties what they plan to do with social care to tackle the mess the sector is in at the moment.” “We need to hear concrete proposals as to how politicians plan to get care to the 1.6m who currently can’t get it, recruit 152,000 care staff to meet current demand, pay and reward the workforce properly and find the extra 440,000 staff we will need to meet growing demand by 2035”. “And we need to hold those politicians accountable.” He said he hoped the report, and others like it, would make the public wake up to the serious state of social care. “I think there is an assumption amongst people that care is available for them or their loved ones, when and where they need it,” Mr Padgham added. “Nothing could be further from the truth. We are heading towards care deserts and when people realise that they might start to agree with us that enough is enough and we need to see improvements.”  Read More:
