Yesterday we had another meetup at Smidig, The Norwegian Agile Community. You can find us at Meetup if you want to join one of our meetups in Oslo. Not all our meetups are in English, but yesterday's event was and we had Timoté Geimer speaking about 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆. One of the questions that came up was: "𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗮𝘀?" Timoté Geimer shared that reflection and questioning yourself is important. Just the fact that you are questioning if you have a bias is contributing to you awareness. This in addition to discussing with others help you discover new perspectives. We all know that our thought patterns can sometimes become fixed as we keep ourselves in a comfortable and known thinking pattern. Knowing this is an awareness we can use to take a step back, take the observer mode and ask different questions. I believe that 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 and 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 is key. This combined with making 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 from a place of curiosity, openness and being non-judgemental will help take us in new directions. Every #Architect should read this post by #MIT Professor Deborah Ancona and relate it to our baseline practice of understanding Stakeholder Concerns in developing complex systems. The technical aspects of Sensemaking and Task Coordination come naturally to the #Solution Developer and #SystemsEngineer when reasoning about a system, it’s elements, and it’s properties within an environment- however that missing element of Stakeholder engagement (what her research broadly addresses as Ambassadorship) is where the real work of Architecture is done - applying quality attributes, capturing architecture rationale to meet the business objectives, and developing value streams that go beyond the pure performance requirements. Big fan of this work. X-Teams should be required reading for senior architects and engineering leaders, certainly for C-Suite teams looking to transform their culture.

Thanks for the shout-out, Tony Smith MA at Mind Bicycle. The spring update was incredible. Now, before we all rush to the free version, remember that 'free' still comes at some cost. Why? How a simple idea led to a $55mn fundraise Simple but brilliantly executed Originally Sana AI, a Swedish startup, wanted to help large corporates to get some "order" in their complex and messy internal database/data, acting like an AI-powered learning and knowledge platform. Earlier this year the reality was that it had big clients indeed but was struggling to respond to calls and meetings with these large corporate firms like Electrolux...making it harder to prospect new ones or scale. So its founder simply flipped the business He decided to create a free version of the AI agent that could draft emails, take meeting minutes and complete simple forms that it was selling to enterprise clients, now guess what? 6 months after launching this trial version around 100,000 new workplaces had signed up and teams with more than five members now pay $30 per user per month. And today Sana AI raised $55mn at a $500 million valuation to scale its research lab and help its commercial expansion in the US. It's also now one of the best funded AI startup in Europe (its Series B was done last year) Its founder, Joel Hellermark, built Sana AI 8 years ago and wanted to use AI to create personalised workplace training plans, that, before AI even became "trendy". 🔍 Excuses for not working with customer feedback🔍 In the B2B world, customer feedback is the key to staying competitive and fostering long-term relationships. Yet, we still hear many reasons from corporates, why they do not work with customer feedback. Here are the most common - and why they don’t hold up: "We already know what our customers want" Assumptions are dangerous. Only structured feedback provides clarity and uncovers unmet needs or expectations. "Our clients don’t like surveys" Many clients appreciate being asked for their input - it shows that their opinion matters and strengthens the partnership. Especially if you ask them in the right way..... "We’re afraid of negative feedback" (read that again - we actually hear that !) Ignoring problems doesn’t make them disappear.
