“I don't know where to start with recruitment automation." Recruitment automation is a game-changer, but knowing where to start can be overwhelming. I was in the same place 4 years ago. We needed a way to: - find the right candidates faster - streamline our hiring process - reduce manual work The problem? We didn't know how to begin. Tools like Bullhorn Automation cover a range of processes. But the volume of options, settings, and configurations can be daunting. As a new user, here’s how we cut through the noise: 1. Identified recruiter pain points We asked, “What’s annoying you right now?” For us, it was time spent on repetitive tasks and re-engaging top talent. 2. Gradual implementation We phased the automation in stages: - Internal notifications - Database updates - Emailing candidates & clients 3. Started a user group Each team had an automation champion. Representatives met regularly. Planned and built automation together. And learnt from each other. Monitoring progress and tracking metrics followed. Feedback from the wider team helped us tweak things. ↓ The result? We plugged easy gaps in our hiring. Recruitment processes became faster and more efficient. For example, job applicants received an instant auto-response. Before automation, someone would have done that manually. Or not at all. Something simple can make an impact. That’s where I’d start. I know I've been guilty of this myself. It's important to empower yourself and resist the urge to buy things just because they’re on sale. Shopping isn’t a duty or obligation. Don’t let yourself be swayed by discounts on things you don't truly need. Of course, if you genuinely need things and have the extra money to spend, then by all means, go ahead. 🚨 Meeting the right consultant will increase your chances of getting a job 🚨 I always encourage my consultants to meet candidates near our office and buy them a coffee and discuss their situation. ☕️ BUT it’s not because ❌ - We like coffee ☕️ ❌ - We want to “build relationships” ❌ - We want a chit chat about the market. It’s to get them a bloody new job! 🤦‍♂️ So why don’t we just use the phone and MS Teams? Of course we do … all the time. 🕰️ But there is a great reason why I encourage face to face meetings. If I’m bought into the candidate, I feel COMPELLED to be proactive & do something. 🚀 ✅- Proactively reach out to exciting / lapsed clients about them even if they don’t have live roles. ✅ - Consider them for roles that on paper are quite a match. ✅ - Proactively reach out to 5 new companies on there behalf. So many recruiters “ghost” candidates because they can because they are “so busy” and don’t reply to emails / calls. But if you meet them. Different story. I make my team do something proactive. Also if you pick the right consultant, they will tell you how it is and provide honest feedback about why you might be struggling to get interviews. Be prepared for “honest & direct” feedback Sometimes I just end the meeting saying, I can’t help you sadly and offer them advice. What’s your experience of meeting recruiters in person?

Don't bury your head in the sand about salaries 🫣 If you're hesitant to include salary span in job ads, you're not alone. According to a survey from Jobbland, only 31% of corporate leaders and recruiters are positive about making salaries visible in the ads. But you can't bury your head in the sand. The directive on pay transparency has been adopted in the EU and will be implemented in Sweden – but how we are to interpret it will be presented in May. I personally believe that transparent pay in job ads will benefit everyone. Regardless of the outcome of the directive, open salaries can lead to significant improvements, especially in recruitment processes. I think the benefits can be significant: 💡 Salary helps candidates decide if the role is right for them before they apply. According to Jobbland's survey, salary is one of the top three most important criteria when choosing a job. 🌪 A job ad is a marketing tool for your company – and here, transparent salary has a direct impact on the results of this marketing. Having salary span in the job ad helps you to create a greater demand for the position on offer. 🔮 Especially now, before the EU directive on pay transparency takes effect in Sweden, including salary ranges in job ads is a great way to stand out from the crowd of employers to reach the most suitable talents.
