Creating a world that runs entirely on green energy.

Om os

Ørsted is the global leader in offshore wind power and is one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world. Within a decade, we transformed from being one of Europe’s most fossil fuel-intensive utilities to being ranked as one of the most sustainable energy companies in the world. Today, we’re guided by a clear vision: to create a world that runs entirely on green energy. We provide countries, companies, and communities with sustainable, reliable, and cost-competitive energy solutions, including offshore and onshore wind, solar, renewable hydrogen, and energy storage. We built the world’s first offshore wind farm back in 1991, and with over 2,000 turbines at sea, we’ve installed more offshore wind capacity than anyone else. In total, we own or operate over 17 GW of renewable energy capacity across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. We know that to build renewable energy at pace and scale, we must build it right. We commit to developing and operating our assets in harmony with nature and in line with the need for science-based climate action. We prioritise integrity and safety in our operations, and we respect the human rights and diverse values of every employee and stakeholder. As a global renewable energy leader, we leverage the curiosity and passion of our people to innovate and take new or existing technologies to scale, collaborating with governments, suppliers, and our industry partners to make green energy solutions a reality.

Closer cross-border cooperation is key to unlocking Europe’s offshore wind potential. That was one of the key takeaways from the North Sea Summit in Hamburg earlier this year ✅ A new study from Fraunhofer-Institut für Windenergiesysteme, ‘International Optimization of Full Load Hours in the German Bight’, reinforces this. As Europe scales offshore wind, how and where we build matters. Germany’s 70 GW capacity target brings maritime spatial challenges, where wake effects between wind farms could reduce both energy yield and full‑load hours. But there is a clearer, more efficient way forward: reallocating offshore wind capacity to Danish waters and feeding power into the German grid. Launched by the BDEW Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft e.V. and BWO - Bundesverband Windenergie Offshore e.V., together with several developers and grid operators including Ørsted, the study highlights: ➡️ Shifting 10–20 GW from the German North Sea to Danish waters could reduce costs by 6–11 %. ➡️ Higher yields on Danish offshore sites and reduced wake losses could increase generation by 6–13 %. ➡️ Full load hours in the analysed area could increase from ~3,500 to ~4,000.   By planning more strategically across borders, we can deliver more electricity, more efficiently, and at lower cost ⚡ Let’s think more European 🤝 Go to the study: https://lnkd.in/eY8gq-aV

  • In 2025, we achieved our science-based target by reducing emissions from our energy production by 98 %. So, what's next? 💙 The Next Zero. Reducing carbon dioxide in our value chain – in other words, the emissions embedded in how offshore wind is built and operated. It’s a different kind of challenge, and a more complex one, requiring strong industrial partnerships and supplier collaboration to solve. Today at London Climate Action Week, we launched The Next Zero – our new paper on tackling emissions beyond our scope 1 and 2 footprint. Watch below as Patrick Harnett, Chief Construction Officer at Ørsted, explains the three key hotspots on our path to net-zero by 2040: steel, maritime fuels, and copper.

  • No single country in the EU is energy independent. As energy security moves up the agenda, Amanda Dasch, Chief Development Officer and Group Executive at Ørsted, explores why offshore wind is critical to Europe's competitiveness, resilience, and long-term prosperity.   Discover what's at stake - and why offshore wind matters more than ever 🔌

  • Now that’s an office with a view 🚁🌊   To continue our Global Wind Day celebrations, Julian Alarcon Gonzalez, Wind Technician at Ørsted, takes us along for one of his favourite parts of the job: flying offshore to the wind turbines he helps keep running. From office to offshore, every role in Ørsted brings us closer to our vision of a world that runs entirely on green energy ⚡   #WorkingInWind #ProudEmployee #EveryRoleMatters

  • From office to offshore – every role matters 💻👷🏻 This Global Wind Day, we’re celebrating some of the people behind our progress – colleagues around the world who contribute every day to a shared ambition: creating a world that runs entirely on green energy. Meet Erika, Roxanne, Lee, Luke, and Sarah – just a few of the many people whose dedication, expertise, and teamwork help make Ørsted the undisputed leader in offshore wind. Together, these colleagues represent the essence of Ørsted.   · Erika Galvez shows that procurement is about understanding what colleagues need, seeing the assets up close (such as a cool helicopter 🚁), and helping build the supply chains that keep Ørsted moving forward. · Roxanne Hsu creates office environments where colleagues can connect, collaborate, and shape the future of the industry. · Lee Thompson helps create coexistence between the fishing industry and offshore wind and is proud to contribute to tackling climate change. · Luke Bridgman is proud to lead a project that will power 3.3 million homes in the UK, while keeping the team safe during construction. · Sarah Guldbrandt shows that progress starts with people by building the skills, mindset, and well-being that help teams learn, improve, and safely power the green energy transition. #WorkingInWind #ProudEmployee #EveryRoleMatters

  • The ocean is fundamental to food, energy, trade, and livelihoods. Yet investment in its health still falls short.     Three years ago, we became the first energy company to issue a corporate blue bond to help address that gap, raising EUR 100 million for initiatives that protect marine biodiversity around our offshore wind farms.     Now, we’ve allocated the full amount of the net proceeds.    The funding has supported a range of projects, including Osonic (low-noise installation technology), Wilder Humber (coastal restoration in the UK), and ReCoral (coral habitat support in Taiwan), alongside biodiversity research and other measures to monitor or reduce environmental impacts across offshore wind sites.     For us, protecting ocean health is integral to developing offshore wind responsibly. These projects demonstrate how investment can support both the energy transition and marine biodiversity. The next step is to scale investment in solutions that restore nature, support communities, and build resilience🌊    Read more about the biodiversity impact of our blue bond in our ‘Summarised Blue Bond Impacts 2025’: https://lnkd.in/ewA6eZVr

  • Safety is a team effort in everything we do 🤝   On Tuesday, Ørsted’s Chief Generation Officer, Godson Njoku, joined Marc Becker, Head of Siemens Gamesa, for a safety walk at one of our new 11 MW wind turbines at Borkum Riffgrund 3, Germany’s largest offshore wind farm, during the handover to the Generation division.   A safety walk is an important practice in our joint efforts. Here, we walk the site, just like our operations colleagues do, observing what works and what can be improved. This helps us gain fresh insights and ensure best‑practice safety standards across sites and regions.   We all have one job: to keep our turbines spinning, making sure our colleagues and partners get home safely every day.   Siemens Gamesa is an important partner to Ørsted. Sharing a common commitment, our teams work closely together to drive safety through design, construction, and operations – and beyond.   Over the next four years, we will operate the 913 MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 wind farm together under a service warranty agreement (SWA). Safety leadership and collaboration will be key to the continued success of our partnership.

  • 👋Progress at pace doesn’t happen on its own: meet Marcin Dudek Monopile installation is now underway for the wind turbines and offshore substations at Baltica 2, a project being developed by PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ørsted. Long before the first vessel arrived on site, one team was already lining up every moving part behind the scenes. Marcin Dudek, our Offshore Site Manager, helps set the daily rhythm at sea. He coordinates construction crews, marine operations, and service teams so the work can progress safely, precisely, and at pace. Based in Gdańsk, our offshore site team also runs safety briefings, supports environmental monitoring, and manages key interfaces across offshore substations and subsea cables. And for Marcin, that means leading risk assessments, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and environmental safeguards, and working closely with suppliers, subcontractors, port authorities, and vessel operators to make the most of every weather window 🌊🚢 Marcin puts it simply: “I’m proud to be part of Poland’s energy transformation through my work on Baltica 2, which is currently the largest offshore wind farm project in Poland and is helping pave the way for Poland’s wider energy transition.” 🎥 Take a look behind Baltica 2 with Marcin (VIDEO) #FacesofBaltica2

  • Update from Greater Changhua – the pace is picking up offshore in Taiwan 💪 The 920 MW Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms have achieved two important milestones: ⚡ All 66 array cables have been successfully installed and energised. ⚡ All 42 wind turbines at Greater Changhua 4 (583 MW) have now been successfully connected to Taipower’s grid and are generating electricity. We’re continuing commissioning and grid integration works to ensure that all the complex systems of the offshore wind farms – from subsea cables to offshore substations – work together seamlessly, enabling reliable operation day in and day out. Progress continues towards full commercial operation, bringing renewable electricity to Taiwan’s grid and supporting key industries in building a resilient, low-carbon future. 🌊⚡
