  • Strengthening our focus on Public Preparedness Preparedness is most effective when it happens before a crisis occurs. As governments around the world continue to strengthen their focus on pandemic preparedness, health security and biological defense, the need for trusted partnerships and long-term preparedness solutions continues to grow. For many years, Bavarian Nordic has helped support readiness for infectious disease outbreaks and biological security threats through collaboration with public health stakeholders globally. To support the continued growth and strategic importance of this business, we are establishing Public Preparedness as a dedicated business area, providing greater focus, accountability and leadership as we continue to expand our contribution to global preparedness. As part of this change, Hitesh Sahni has been appointed Senior Vice President, Global Head of Public Preparedness Business. Hitesh will lead the business area and help drive its continued growth and strategic development. We look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen preparedness, build resilience, and help protect communities against future health threats. #News #BavarianNordic #PublicPreparedness

  • Health Canada has approved our chikungunya vaccine for individuals aged 12 years and older. This marks an important scientific milestone, as this vaccine is now approved in another country, helping to protect people against this mosquito-borne disease. With this decision, the vaccine is now approved across five regulatory regions – the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Canada – reflecting growing recognition of the underlying science and the need for additional tools to help prevent chikungunya. As a company focused on improving and saving lives through vaccines, every new approval is an opportunity to help reduce the burden of vaccine-preventable diseases for people who live, work or travel in affected regions. Today’s milestone in Canada brings us one step closer to that purpose. 🎥 In this video, our Country Director for Canada, Karinne Lacombe, shares what this approval means in a local context. #Chikungunya #Vaccine #BavarianNordic

  • Two congresses. Same week. Different locations. One shared purpose. Last week at #NECTM10 and #ESPID, we were pleased to take part in discussions connecting science with real-world practice - from travel medicine to pediatric infectious diseases. At #NECTM10, this also included hosting a symposium and a dedicated nurse reception, creating additional opportunities for knowledge exchange and meaningful dialogue. Across both congresses, one thing stood out: the value of sharing perspectives, challenging assumptions, and bringing greater attention to infectious diseases and health challenges that are often overlooked. Thank you to the organizers and all participants for the insightful discussions and valuable exchanges. #NECTM10 #ESPID #BavarianNordic #TravelMedicine #Infectiousdiseases #GlobalHealth

  • We are pleased to announce that we have secured a new government contract to supply smallpox/mpox vaccine in 2026–2027. This agreement underscores the continued importance of preparedness in global public health. Vaccines remain a critical public health tool not only for outbreak response, but also for strengthening long-term resilience through strategic stockpiling and reliable access to medical countermeasures. We continue to support global health through innovation, partnerships, and preparedness. • Expanding access to chikungunya protection in French Guiana French Guiana is currently facing an active chikungunya outbreak, with local transmission putting vulnerable communities and the health system under pressure. In response, chikungunya vaccine doses have now been delivered to the region, enabling vaccination as part of the public health response and helping extend protection to those who may be at risk. This step is part of a broader effort to expand access to vaccines for populations at risk, showing how partnerships and needs-driven programmes can help reach more people when it matters most. #Chikungunya #Vaccines #FrenchGuiana #PublicHealth

  • In remote communities, timely access to rabies post‑exposure protection can be the difference between risk and reassurance. When a potential dog rabies exposure occurred in Marshall, Alaska, local health authorities needed preventive doses quickly to help protect people who may have been exposed. As part of a coordinated public-health response, we supported local authorities with rabies vaccines to help ensure timely access. In remote settings, logistics and distance can be some of the biggest challenges in an urgent public-health response. For rabies, where prompt intervention is essential, making sure vaccines are available when and where they are needed can help make a real difference. We remain committed to helping expand access to protection where it is needed. #BavarianNordic #Communities #Rabies

  • Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) remains an important and evolving public health topic across Europe, including in paediatric care. We will be attending the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases - ESPID Annual Meeting in Bologna from 2–5 June to discuss and raise TBE awareness of the importance of prevention in paediatric populations. Meet us at Booth 2 to learn more about TBE and the role of prevention in protecting children. See you in Bologna, meet our experts and learn more about TBE. #ESPID #Bologna #BavarianNordic

  • Good ideas can grow across sites. On #InternationalDayforBiologicalDiversity, we are highlighting how local action and inspiration can travel across Bavarian Nordic. At our Bern site, we have consciously let selected grass areas around the site grow naturally, allowing wildflowers to create more space for local nature. That idea has now travelled to Kvistgaard and inspired changes at the site. “This spring, we were inspired to look at some of the initiatives in Bern and see how we could adapt their way of thinking to our local environment. We have now seeded a wildflower meadow by the site’s main entrance with 27 native species and reduced mowing in most grass areas. It is a small change, but we hope it will support local biodiversity over time and make nature more visible in our everyday surroundings.” – Tim Abercrombie, Global Environment Lead The meadow is still in its early stages, and nature takes time. Over the coming months, we look forward to seeing what grows, what changes and how the area develops as part of the local environment around the site. #BiodiversityDay #Biodiversity #ActingLocallyForGlobalImpact #BavarianNordic

  • What does it take to work effectively across cultures? At Bavarian Nordic, our global footprint brings together colleagues with different backgrounds, perspectives, and ways of working. It takes dialogue, curiosity, and an understanding of the context behind different perspectives. That mix shapes how we collaborate across regions and functions - and how we work together across the world. Watch how the power of perspectives drives the way we work together. 👇 #WorldDayforCulturalDiversity #GlobalTeams #Collaboration #CulturalDiversity
