“Born Again” collaborators Lalisa Manobal, Doja Cat and Raye took the stage together in separate tributes to the James Bond franchise at the 2025 Oscars.
Introduced by actress Halle Berry, who recreated her onscreen kiss with actor Adrien Brody from years ago, Manobal, who is also currently starring in Max’s The White Lotus Season 3, kicked off the trio of performances, singing Paul McCartney and Wings’ “Live And Let Die” from the 1973 film starring Roger Moore as the secret agent. Manobal recently released her latest album Alter Ego.
Next came Doja Cat with “Diamonds Are Forever,” originally performed by Shirley Bassey in the 1971 film starring Sean Connery.
Then came Raye, who also featured on LISA’s most recent song along with Doja Cat. The “Oscar Winning Tears” singer belted out “Skyfall” written and performed by Adele for the 2012 film starring Daniel Craig.
Margaret Qualley also set the stage for the three singers by performing a dance routine in a red dress reminiscent of many Bond girls.
At the Governor’s Awards in November 2024, Honorary Oscars were presented to Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
Creative control of the James Bond franchise was recently taken by Amazon MGM Studios, with Brocolli and Wilson taking a step back from the spy films.
