EXCLUSIVE: Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey for Universal Pictures is growing by three more as Nick Tarabay (Spartacus, The Expanse), Jimmy Gonzales (Busboys, Mayans M.C.) and Maurice Compte (Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, Mayans M.C.) have joined the cast in unspecified roles, sources tell Deadline.
Nolan’s mythic action epic, shot with new Imax cameras, is based on the ancient Greek poem by Homer which follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. The classic explores themes of heroism, loyalty, cunning and the struggle against divine will. The tale includes iconic stories like Odysseus’ encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens and the witch-goddess Circe, culminating in a reunion with his wife Penelope.
The cast is led by Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie and Charlize Theron. The ensemble also includes Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia and Will Yun Lee.

As Deadline has previously reported, the film will be screened in Imax when it hits cinemas everywhere on July 17, 2026; that third weekend of July is a good luck date for Nolan where he’s launched such hits as Dark Knight, Dunkirk, Oppenheimer among other titles.

He is repped by Verve and attorney Matt Rosen at Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
Gonzales wrapped a starring role opposite David Spade and Theo Von in the buddy comedy, Busboys. Other feature highlights include a lead role opposite Dennis Quaid in Netflix’s Blue Miracle and a supporting lead in Eva Longoria’s Flamin’ Hot for Searchlight. On television, Jimmy has recurred on ABC’s The Rookie, NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime, FX’s Mayans M.C., AMC’s The Walking Dead and Lodge 49. Most recently, he has recurred on the Prime Video series Bosch: Legacy and NBC’s Law & Order: SVU. Previously, he had a leading role in FX’s hit motorcycle drama Mayans M.C. in the Season 1 role of “Kevin Jimenez.” In Netflix’s Narcos, Compte played “Colonel Horacio Carillo,” Pablo Escobar’s relentless nemesis. Additional TV credits include Power for Starz, Netflix’s Narcos, AMC’s Breaking Bad and FOX’s 24. On the big screen, Compte portrayed the menacing villain ‘Big Evil’ Flores in End of Watch, as Benny ‘Borracho’ Magalon in Den of Thieves opposite Gerard Butler and “Sapo” in David Ayers’ Sabotage.
