Filming is underway on Ku’damm 77, the fourth season of the popular German drama.
The series is produced by German banner UFA Fiction. The new show comes in the wake of earlier outings Ku’damm 56, Ku’damm 59 and Ku’damm 63. Cameras are rolling in and around the German capital, Berlin.
The saga about the Schöllack dance school follows a family history over several decades. As the name implies, Ku’damm 77 picks up the family story in 1977.
Annette Hess, recipient of Deadline’s German TV Disruptor Award last year, penned the scripts for the three-part series. Hess is one of Germany’s top creatives, counting the Ku’damm series among her credits as well as We Children From Bahnhoff Zoo and The Interpreter of Silence for Disney+.
Hess has helped set the structure of the team as filming commences. She is showrunner and has that wide oversight, with Maurice Hübner in the director’s chair.

In addition to a returning ensemble, new cast includes Carlotta Bähre, Marie Louise Albertine Becker, Massiamy Diaby, Florian Stetter and Aziz Dyab.
The series has performed well on home turf for German pubcaster ZDF. Further afield, it has garnered an International Emmy nom and sold widely, with buyers in over 30 territories. ZDF Studios has handled sales on the previous seasons and will be across distribution of Ku’damm 77.
Sebastian Krekeler, Deputy Head of Drama at ZDF Studios said: “In Ku’damm77 we now experience the pulsating life of the divided city of Berlin in the seventies, an era full of color and contrast.”
