EXCLUSIVE: Fledgling UK distribution label Lightbulb Film Distribution has set its early slate with two UK features, a well-received Cannes Un Certain Regard title and medieval action film The Pagan King.
First to be released on March 1 will be Jeremy Wooding’s (Blood Moon) UK drama Burning Men, in which musicians Ray (Ed Hayter) and Don (Aki Omoshaybi) are evicted from their South London squat and embark on a road trip across the UK to sell their prized vinyls. When they steal a rare Black Metal record and meet hitchhiker Susie (Elinor Crawley), the record seems to unleash dark forces. Lightbulb will give the film a limited theatrical run next month in collaboration with marketing and distribution agency Munro Films. Wooding directed the first series of hit UK comedy series Peep Show.

Munro Films’ managing director, Frank Smith added, “We are very excited to be working on such an original, genre-breaking feature. Burning Men is a film we were immediately drawn to. We are happier still that this marks our first release with Lightbulb, led by Peter and Matthew, two very experienced and bright sparks in the digital and broadcast arena.”
Also coming up for the company are well-received Cannes 2017 Un Certain Regard title Beauty And The Dogs by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania and Latvian medieval action film The Pagan King with Edvin Endre (Vikings). UK comedy Eaten By Lions, featuring People Just Do Nothing star Asim Chaudhry and comedian Johnny Vegas, will get a theatrical release from late March.
Thompson is former head of sales at UK outfit Arrow Films and Kreuzer is former sales director of UK distributor Kaleidoscope. The duo will be at the EFM in Berlin next month.
