Crafting tomorrow - Imagine, Innovate, Impact

Info

As part of the Hasso Plattner Institute, the HPI d-School (formerly HPI School of Design Thinking) is an unrivaled center for European design thinking education. Founded in 2007 in Potsdam, the HPI d-school is a leading academic institution that trains students and graduates in multidisciplinary, collaborative teamwork to develop innovative solutions for complex problems. This is enabled by the school’s unique learning environment with state-of-the-art hybrid collaboration spaces and equipment. Student teams create human-centered products, services, and business models in collaboration with partner organizations from industry, society, and politics. A team of experienced coaches from various professional and academic backgrounds accompany the students in their team projects. In addition to offering educational programs, the HPI d-school researches the intersection between humans and technology (design thinking, innovation, and digital transformation). As the initiator and founding member of the Global Design Thinking Alliance (GDTA), we foster and promote the exchange between learning institutions worldwide, including its sister institution at the University of Cape Town (South Africa). The HPI d-school is a branch of HPI: https://hpi.de/index.html.

🎨 Exciting to see ideas from our Foundations for Design Thinking program coming to life! 🌟 During the Winter semester, our students worked on a challenge to bring more young people into museums. One of the solutions they developed was the idea of interactive workshops that promote engagement and creativity. We’re thrilled to share that this idea has now been successfully implemented at the Museum Barberini! The "Taping Workshop" in the Barberini Studio is bringing local Potsdam residents together to work and express themselves through art. 🎉 A huge shoutout to our talented students: Alexandra F., Ilaria, Iana Gorokhova, Philipp Hendel, Marie Kauffmann, Hena Vega Larios, Nina Reznikova, Zama Mpili, and Oliver Kloss. Their hard work and collaboration with Barberini Museum Potsdam has led to a wonderful initiative that’s now open to the public. 🌍 Check out the details of the workshop(s) here: https://lnkd.in/ezPYxYJB Well done, everyone! 💡 #DesignThinking #Innovation #ArtAndCulture #HPIdschool #StudentProjects #CreativityInAction

Let’s talk about the art of leaving things unsaid – a concept that’s as intriguing as it is essential in Design Thinking. ✨ Thomas Grundnigg, one of our Program Leads at the HPI d-school, shares his view on 𝗔𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀 – 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 – and its role in prototyping. In a world where we often feel pressured to perfect and over-define our ideas, Tom reminds us that sometimes, the magic happens when we leave room for imagination. 👉 “𝘈 𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦.” – Baba Shiv, Stanford University This concept resonates with how we approach design at the d-school. By embracing ambiguity, we foster collaboration and creative exploration, allowing everyone to bring their perspectives and fill in the gaps. As Tom highlights, using rough prototypes and leaving visual gaps shifts the audience from passive viewers to active participants. The 𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 often sparks the most engaging conversations. 🔎 Check out the full article by Tom & Viktoria Kirjuchina to dive deeper into how Aposiopesis can transform your prototyping process: https://lnkd.in/d6eGJ3UN #DesignThinking #Aposiopesis #Prototyping
