A shortage of skilled workers and small leaps in productivity are the biggest problems, and the mass market will be hit the hardest – if things continue like this, low-cost electric cars will come mainly from China by 2035. The industry is calling for predictable framework conditions.

𝟮 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀. The answers to the question "𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆?" posed by Florian Hoffmann at The DO Dinner in Davos were manifold. The question about the 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 was different. One factor clearly dominated all answers: the human factor. I have since been using these two questions several times - to quickly get a sense of the thoughts on people's minds in a room AND to create a sense of unity. We all need to feel something like 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗺. Recognising the reality of polycrises, unpredictability, complexity and rapid pace, the focus must not be on how we will get through another challenging year, but on how we individually and collectively do today so that we will have a more positive view of the future in ten years' time. Or as futurologist Amy Webb puts it, "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁." #LeadershipChoices #PragmaticOptimism #Hope

Due to some lunch talks in the last weeks about books, i thought it could be valuable for you, to share a bit about my book readings from this year. No. 1 "Gamification, Digitization and Industry 4.0" is an interesting book for anyone dealing with the creation of new SaaS products, the future of work and general tech. management. It offers from my opinion valuable insights into the opportunities that arise from the digital transformation and shows how gamification can be used to seize these opportunities. In all of the three dimensions: product development, future of work and management as such. Everything explained on real gamification examples. Without human-to-human interaction, there’s no success in AI. I recently sat down with two of our Bosch UX experts, Nadja Riedlberger and Vitali Fischbein for another issue of our internal Sofa Session series. Nadja and Vitali shared insights into how they bring UX into #AI, as well as AI into #UX – both is very important for success. Two key takeaways were: 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Talk to your users and get feedback! It’s not enough to just implement a new technology and hope for the best. We must actively seek user input both before and after implementation. And then based on the feedback refine and enhance the experience. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Generative AI: Huge potential, but it takes a human touch to unlock it. By sharing our successes and 'aha!' moments, we can collectively unlock the full power of AI for everyone. I really enjoyed our sofa session chat, Nadja and Vitali! An 👏exciting 2nd Automotive Functional Safety Forum with in-depth presentations from BorgWarner, Valeo, ZF Group, Bosch and other leading automotive suppliers as well as semiconductor manufacturers such as NXP Semiconductors and AMD took place this week in Berlin. My personal takeaways from this event: ➡ #Cybersecurity, especially in connection with #AD #ADAS, will be one of the major challenges in the future due to the large number of attack directions. ➡ #ArtificialIntelligence, especially #MachineLearning, is already widely used in optimization and testing in #FunctionalSafety and helps to significantly improve safety indicators. ➡In addition to #ISO26262, there are an immense number of technical regulations that should also be taken into account in the area of ​​functional safety. The work on the IEEE P2851.1-4 standards (Reliability, Cyber ​​Security, #SOTIF and Real-Time) will be interesting here. Many thanks to John Isaac plus the team of Leadvent Group for organizing the event and Riccardo Vincelli for moderating the exciting presentations and discussions as well as for the competent speakers, among them Philip Koopman, Alexander Mattausch, Jyotika Athavale, Oscar Slotosch, Delphine Kervarec-Vicq, Florian Reichle, Abhash Das, Hans Böhme and many others. Hans Jörg Klein, the Deputy Chairman of the Managing Board, left the company on January 31, 2022². - **Operational Focus**: The changes were intended to accelerate the implementation of Ford's transformation strategy in Germany and Europe. This week I had the pleasure to speak at the Mannheim Business School in a learning session with #MBA students. Thank you, Armin Heinzl, Prof. Dr. for hosting me!  We discussed three key questions and priorities for @Schneider Electric in the digital age: 1. How can we leverage digital #platforming and network effects to create value for our customers and partners? 2. How can we accelerate the energy transition and empower the rise of #prosumers, who both consume and produce energy? 3. How can we provision #AI sustainably in data centers, today and in the future? I was impressed by the curiosity, engagement, and all the thoughtful questions. Vitesco Technologies and Schaeffler Merger On 24th April 2024 at the General Meeting the companies will most likely grant the approval of the Merger agreement as the culmination of the Tender Offer from Schaeffler that Vitesco accepted, which valued the shares of the latter at 94 EUR per share. The 3 reasons why I find this deal interesting and unique are: 1. The Bidder entered into an Acting-in-Concert agreement with 2 entities that in total hold 49.94% of the share capital and voting rights of Vitesco. 2. J.P. Morgan, Lazard and Perella Weinberg acted as Vitesco’s financial advisors for this deal and all 3 expressed in their Opinion Letters that the updated Offer Price is inadequate from the financial point of view 3. The Bidder expressed the ambition to finish the integration process by the end of the year. It will be interesting how Board Interlocks, IMO Committee consisting of the CEO, CFO and CHRO of both companies - both factors mentioned by Jeff Weirens and Mark Sirower in “The Synergy Solution” and in the publication in "Advances in Mergers and Acquisitions" journal by Olimpia Meglio, David R. King, Ph.D. and Elio Shijaku, Ph.D. on the role of social ties in addressing the information asymmetries in acquisitions will affect the integration process.
