Cloud Transformation 2024 study: full speed ahead into the cloud The majority of companies in Germany are interested in the cloud in all its various facets. Around 37% believe they are already well to very well positioned in terms of digitizing, but some still see a clear need for action in the further modernization of their tools, processes and workflows. Process automation and the availability and flexibility of applications are particularly important to IT and business managers. The pressure to modernize IT and business processes has now also clearly led to most cloud transformation projects being strategically planned and implemented. More than half of the users surveyed start by taking stock of their existing IT infrastructure. Around a third do this on their own, but the vast majority also secure the support of a dedicated cloud or service provider. When it comes to the cloud, companies organize themselves to ensure appropriate cloud governance via the group's own IT service provider, if one exists. From time to time, dedicated project teams are set up in which all important stakeholders and experts are bundled. In some places, this organisations are also known as the Cloud Center of Excellence. The way is that responsibility for the transformation and downstream management of the new IT operating models is largely centralized - and important specialist departments such as Legal, Compliance and Risk Management are also at the table. Around 13% of users state that they will pursue a rigid cloud-only strategy in the future. However, more than half of the study participants are committed to a cloud-first approach, the preferred use of cloud services over on-premises hosted applications. 36 percent favor the private cloud approach. The „Scholz paper“ (agenda for economic growth and jobs) of Nov 6 - which was part of the coalition break up reasons - did not include hints on digital topics being a major priority, unlike strengthening national defense an stimulation of the economy. ⏸️ eIDAS Implementation Act II Status: Stakeholder consultation statements to be reviewed, followed by a cabinet decision. ❓ Implementation measures planned for early 2025 threatened by open budget situation. To be clarified from stakeholder consultation for example: Associations such as InsureLab are calling for the deletion of Section 12 Paragraph 1 Sentence 3 GwG within the framework of Article 5. 🚨 Customer Alert: Data Exposure in Volkswagen Connected Vehicles 🚗🔒 Dear Customers, Volkswagen Group’s software subsidiary, Cariad, recently addressed a significant data exposure affecting approximately 800,000 internet-connected vehicles from brands like VW, Audi, Skoda, and Seat. Here’s what you need to know: 🔑 Key Details: • What Happened? Personal data, including precise vehicle locations (accurate to 10 cm for some models), was left unprotected in Amazon cloud storage. • Who’s Affected? Primarily customers in Germany (300,000 vehicles), with others in Norway, Sweden, the UK, France, and more. 🌍 • How Did It Happen? The incident was triggered by the improper configuration of a cloud storage system, which left information from two applications unprotected for several months. This allowed criminals to easily access drivers’ personal data and track the precise movements of their vehicles. The issue impacted brands such as Audi, Skoda, Volkswagen, and Seat. The list of affected individuals included employees of Germany’s intelligence service, the Hamburg police, and two German politicians, Nadja Weippert and Markus Grübel. The problem also affected drivers in Norway, Belgium, Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Denmark.
