🚀 Big news from our WERK1 community! Caire, one of our WERK1 startups, has successfully closed its pre-seed funding round. The team around co-founders Hamdi Belhassen, Mohtadi BEN FRAJ and Daniel Angloher convinced numerous investors, who provided a total of 850.000 euros in pre-seed financing. The round was led by healthcare-focused YZR Capital. Bayern Kapital and capacura, the online pharmacy DocMorris and Martin Blüggel, a healthcare angel investor, also invested. Caire.ai revolutionizes healthcare with AI-powered technology that measures all vital signs in just 10 seconds using a simple video of the face. Their solution offers accurate, non-invasive monitoring of heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Looking back at "Countdown to the Election: The Future of Democracy", we had an evening filled with insightful discussions about the challenges our democracy faces and the role we all play in shaping its future. 💡 Together with Ashoka and Bits & Pretzels, we welcomed inspiring speakers who highlighted key challenges: from digital hate and political campaigning to the rights of stateless people. 🚀 Christiana Bukalo (Statefree e.V.) emphasized the importance of connection over division: "We must not tear down bridges, but strengthen connections between people so that there is no space for right-wing ideologies." Anna-Lena von Hodenberg (HateAid) highlighted the urgent need for change in digital spaces, asking: "How can we design social media in a way that doesn’t undermine democracy, but instead strengthens it?" Dr. Maximilian Oehl (Media Force, Brand New Bundestag) reminded us of the pressing need to protect discourse online: "Over the next four years, we must do everything we can to defend and stabilize discussions on social media."
