From Berlin to Boston – what a ride! Last week, Stefanie Brickwede and Naomi Nathan had the opportunity to dive into the U.S. additive manufacturing scene, meet inspiring people, and exchange ideas on where this industry is headed. As co-organizers of the AMBER Tech Journey, we at MGA are grateful to have been part of this experience and to have witnessed first-hand how collaboration across borders is shaping the future of AM. 🌍 A huge thank you to our partners Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH and everyone who joined and contributed to this experience. Let’s keep pushing the boundaries of AM together! #WeBoostAM #AdditiveManufacturing #3DPrinting
What a trip – the AMBER Tech Journey 2025! 🗽 From New York City to Boston: Last week, our corporate delegation explored the U.S. market, established valuable connections with potential partners and investors, and gathered fresh innovation impulses for the future of additive manufacturing. A special highlight was AMBER’s renewed partnership with New York’s Additive Manufacturing Strategies, one of the leading gatherings for C-level executives, investors, and industry experts in additive manufacturing. As an official partner, #AMBER was present with its own booth and on stage: David Hampel, Head of Unit Manufacturing Industries, participated in the panel discussion "Rebuilding the Industrial Base: Government and National Clusters", highlighting Berlin’s prominent position within Germany and Europe. The Boston visit featured an exciting mix of corporate and university visits, including exclusive insights into current projects at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as visits to Autodesk, Boston Micro Fabrication - BMF and Markforged. These are among the world’s most dynamic innovation hubs and home to numerous groundbreaking AM technologies. The AMBER Tech Journey 2025 has impressively demonstrated, right at the beginning of the year, how crucial international knowledge exchange and global collaboration are for the future of additive manufacturing, an industry that is clearly undergoing transformation. The global realignment and consolidation of the sector were also key outcomes of the three-day conference and numerous discussions with the delegation. A big thank you to all participants and partners who accompanied and supported this journey! Photon Laser Manufacturing GmbH additiveStream Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Science e.V. If you’re part of our medical network and couldn’t make it, you’ll still have the chance to review and comment on the draft in the coming months - expect an invite soon! 😉 A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed, from our chair Urvashi Gunputh to all the other members Gregor Reischle, Dominic Duda, Sascha Petereit, Alexander B. 3D-Printed Medical Materials and AM in Automotive – What’s the Connection? 🤔 At our Medical Material Working Group meeting at MANN+HUMMEL, we brought together two industries that, on the surface, might seem like an odd couple. But when we started discussing material databases, sustainability, and recycling, we quickly saw the common ground - and that both face similar challenges and opportunities. The big takeaway? Healthcare can tap into the automotive industry’s 25+ years of experience in AM, particularly when it comes to material standards and advanced processes. One of the highlights of the day was definitely the tour of Mann + Hummel’s 3D printing center! A huge thank you to Jürgen Jenner, Özlem Weiss, Dr. Jan Wegner, Dr. Andreas Wintzer and all participants for making the day such a success. 🙏 Moral of the story? When industries come together, fresh ideas emerge, and possibilities grow. So let's collaborate and explore other exciting intersections!
