𝗦𝗧𝗔 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 – 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 On February 26-27, we attended Hidrógeno para automoción powered by Sociedad de Técnicos de Automoción (STA) in Barcelona, a Spanish conference reflecting on the current status of hydrogen in mobility and transportation applications. The event combined different stakeholders and players along the value chain, covering infrastructure, component and system suppliers, OEMs and public authorities. 🚀 A key takeaway: The industry is ready – several products are available or in the pipeline – but the business case for end users is often challenged by high system and hydrogen costs. 💡 Our colleague, Pablo Corcuera Nivela, was on stage to discuss technology options and the TCO competitiveness of hydrogen-based solutions in the transport industry, highlighting the high sensitivity of TCO and business cases to hydrogen prices. Key insights from his speech: ✅ Both fuel cells and H2 ICEs will be present in the transportation sector, but highly dependent on use cases and their specific technical and economic requirements ✅ Fuel cells will only be competitive for HD long-haul applications at system costs significantly below 200 EUR / kW ✅ H2 ICEs are a feasible alternative for HD long-haul applications, but require hydrogen prices below 6 EUR / kg ✅ Energy price variations only marginally impact overall ZEV attractiveness – end users will only opt for zero-CO2 solutions at a larger scale if price stability is ensured ✨ Attending STA Hidrógeno para automoción 2025 was a great opportunity to connect with our clients, colleagues, and industry peers. 🔜 Looking forward to meeting again in 2026 and to continuing our discussions – let’s work on the next steps together! #STA2025 #Hydrogen #Mobility #Transport #Collaboration #Spain

SIA CESA 2025 – The Evolution Towards Software-Defined Vehicles is No Longer Optional! We attended SIA CESA 2025 on February 12-13 in Versailles, a leading conference for automotive electronics and software professionals. This year’s discussions revolved around Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), evolving E/E architectures, and the fundamental transformation of automotive development. 🚀 A key takeaway: The industry is at a turning point—traditional OEMs must embrace SDVs to stay competitive. 💡 Our colleague Mirko Engelhard took the stage to discuss competitiveness and time-to-market, highlighting key industry challenges and strategies to enhance R&D efficiency. 🔋🚗 Will battery electric vehicles (BEV) sales’ growth be back on track in 2025? Are OEMs on track to meet challenging EU CO2 emission targets in 2025? Latest registration data shows a strong recovery and growth of battery electric vehicle sales in Europe: • German BEV sales were up 54% in January 2025 (compared to January 2024), reaching a 17% BEV market share • UK BEV sales were up 42% in January 2025 (compared to January 2024), reaching a 21% BEV market share Obviously, these extreme growth rates are relative to rather weak sales in January 2024. Additionally, some OEMs might have pushed BEV registrations into 2025 to enable this year's compliance with tightening CO2 standards.
