Somewhere right now, a customer is abandoning their cart because the product they wanted isn't available. They won't email to complain, they'll just leave (aka, you just got ghosted) 💔 Between 15% and 23% of cart abandonments are tied to inventory issues, and for brands running recurring orders or selling across multiple channels, the risk compounds fast. A shopper who can't rely on a product being there when they expect it doesn't stay a loyal customer for long 😬 This piece looks at how inventory reservations and recurring orders work together to close that gap, reduce abandonment, and give customers the reliability that actually builds retention. See how it works in practice: https://okt.to/d8WA5r

Today, we’re introducing the commercetools Accelerator Certification Program. A clear standard for what “ready” looks like in B2B commerce. Certification evaluates: ✔️ Product fit against real B2B use cases ✔️ Architecture that holds up under enterprise complexity ✔️ Delivery readiness, including timelines teams can plan around ✔️ How the solution is positioned and brought to market If it’s certified, teams know what they’re getting and how quickly they can get live 🫡 We’re also excited to share that Orium’s B2B Accelerator is the first to achieve certification for B2B Manufacturing, which is a strong signal of where the bar is! Because in B2B, speed , predictability AND outcomes matter 🤝 More here: https://lnkd.in/e3UKAwzX

Everyone's calling everything "agentic commerce." Dirk would like a word 🤨 This month's Commerce Digest is his reality check on where the market actually is, what the big payment provider moves in April really signal, and why the retailers winning might not actually be the ones making the loudest noise about AI right now... (Spoiler alert: it involves some genuinely unglamorous work) Read it 👇

Earlier this month for our annual Girls' Day, a group of curious, brilliant girls spent the day in our Berlin and Munich offices, programming a mini computer to play rock paper scissors 🤖 By the end of it, they'd also built a game where their heroine jumps over an oncoming obstacle, learned how the infrastructure behind LEGO's website works, and heard from three engineers (Moge, Laura, and Ida) about what actually brought them into tech 👩💻 Throughout the day, they asked thoughtful questions and worked through challenges together, and the energy in the room was a reminder that confidence often starts with getting the chance to try. A big thank you to everyone who made the day happen: Konrad Fisher, Jenny Hentrich, Ida Loggert, Amogemola Okulaja, Jens Schulze, Anna Shipil, and Laura Thompson 🫶

97% of B2B buyers expect a fast, accurate experience when purchasing from a supplier's site. The other 3%? They probably also like pineapple on pizza... 🫣 The gap between what B2B buyers now expect and what most platforms can actually deliver at the cart is where real revenue gets lost. A procurement team halfway through a bulk order doesn't want to hear that availability needs to be confirmed. They want a guarantee, in the moment, before they move on to someone who can give them one 👀 This piece breaks down what enterprise-grade inventory management looks like when it's built for the complexity of B2B and why more businesses are treating it as a competitive differentiator rather than a back-office concern: https://okt.to/x2uG4X

Who's up for making AI actually do something useful? 🙋 This week, we’ll be at #MACHX: The Agentic Advantage, and the conversations are shaping up to be very real. This is where teams go beyond AI experiments and get into: - what’s live - what’s driving revenue - what’s quietly failing behind the scenes... If you're interested in: 1️⃣ Improving conversion and AOV with AI-driven experiences 2️⃣ Making your stack flexible enough to keep up 3️⃣ Handling the complexity of agentic workflows without slowing teams down ...you know which booth to visit 😏 See you there 🇨🇦 Not got a ticket yet? Your customer set up a recurring order for their dog food six months ago and they haven't thought about it since. That's the point 💁♀️ Recurring orders are one of the most underloved revenue strategies in B2C commerce. Predictable income, lower acquisition costs, and customers who've essentially opted into loyalty. The catch is that the experience has to be completely frictionless.. one failed delivery, one out-of-stock surprise, and the trust that took months to build disappears fast 🫣 This guide covers how enterprise retailers can make recurring orders and inventory management work together to protect that trust, and turn convenience into a serious revenue driver 🤑 https://okt.to/fGkYlT

Hitting $100 billion in GMV run-rate is a milestone we're really proud of 👏 The real opportunity lies in the $3–5 trillion shift toward AI-driven commerce and in building the infrastructure to support it. Our Q1 2026 results reflect that momentum. 600 million orders annually (up 41% year over year) - same-store sales up 27%, and more than $7 billion in GMV from new enterprise customers in Q1 alone 💪 “…enterprises need a commerce platform that can keep pace with constant change. Across our customers, we’re seeing strong growth driven by new business models, global expansion, and rising expectations for speed and performance.” – Doug McNary, commercetools’ CEO You can see this in moments like UK Mother’s Day 2026 peak trading, where Moonpig handled it with scale and performance, processing 1.7 million orders and €29.57 million in GMV. The same foundation is enabling customers like JD Sports to invest in AI-driven commerce capabilities and capture demand as shopping moves into new channels.
