- William R. Forstchen (* 11. října 1950, New Jersey) je americký spisovatel, autor mnoha sci-fi povídek. Bydlí ve West Lafayette v Indianě. Stal se profesorem dějepisu a učil tvůrčí psaní v Maine. V roce 1990 dokončil doktorát se zaměřením na americké vojenské dějiny v 19. století. Jeho první kniha, byla vydána v roce 1983 a od té doby napsal mnoho dalších. Napsal spoustu krátkých povídek.v Česku je známý především svou sbírkou povídek a románem z prostředí hry Magic: The Gathering nazvaným Aréna.Poslední kniha v češtině Vteřinu poté (One Second After, 2009) vyšla v r. 2012 v Knižním klubu vydavatelství Euromedia Group.Zajímá se o také o potápění, jízdu na kole, vlaky a jako vojín 20. maineského dobrovolného pluku se účastní rekonstrukcí historických bitev. - William R. Forstchen (born October 11, 1950) is an American historian and author. A Professor of History and Faculty Fellow at Montreat College, in Montreat, North Carolina, he received his doctorate from Purdue University. He has published numerous popular novels and non-fiction works about military and alternative history, thrillers, and speculative events. His three alternate novels of the Civil War were co-written with politician Newt Gingrich; two also had the participation of writer Albert S. Hanser. He and the other two men have also written three novels about General George Washington during the American Revolutionary War. (en)
