- Die Sony α55 (SLT-A55V, SLT-A55) ist eine Mittelklassekamera, welche seit August 2010 im Handel erhältlich ist. Sie ist die erste Digitalkamera (neben der ) mit teildurchlässigem Spiegel. Sony nennt diese Bauform „single-lens translucent camera“, kurz SLT-Kamera. Als SLT bietet sie Phasenvergleichsautofokus bei Live-View und einen elektronischen Sucher. Der Nachfolger ist die Sony α57. Durch Nutzung des teildurchlässigen Spiegels anstelle eines sonst üblichen Klappspiegels, welcher für die Aufnahme hochklappen muss, ist es möglich, bis zu zehn Bilder in der Sekunde bei konstanter Nachfokussierung durchzuführen. Diese Geschwindigkeit war bisher, wenn überhaupt, nur weitaus teureren Kameras vorbehalten. Gleichzeitig ist sie eine der vier ersten Sony-Alpha-Kameras mit eingebauter Video-Aufnahmefunktion (maximal 1920 × 1080 Pixel). Die α55 besitzt, wie bei Sony üblich, einen eingebauten Bildstabilisator für den 16,2-Megapixel-Sensor. Die Sony α55 ist in folgenden Versionen am Markt erhältlich:

- The Sony α55 (model variants SLT-A55V with GPS, SLT-A55 without GPS depending on country) is a midrange-level SLT camera, released in August 2010. Its design is novel due to its being the first digital single-lens translucent camera (SLT), along with the Sony α33. As an SLT it employs a semi-transparent mirror instead of an opaque mirror, which enables phase detection autofocus in live view. The design also replaces the optical viewfinder present in conventional DSLR with a high-resolution electronic viewfinder. The translucent mirror is fixed in position so does not have to flip up to take a still image, enabling rapid continuous shots of up to 10 frames per second. The static mirror also eliminates "mirror slap", the noise produced by the movement of the mirror during a shutter actuation, making the A55 quieter than standard DSLRs. The A55 is one of the first four Sony Alpha DSLR / SLT cameras with video mode included, capable of 1080i. It is also capable of shooting 1080p at 30fps. DSLR, Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera), jedna z dwóch z nowej linii oznaczonej SLT (obok Sony α33), przeznaczona dla zaawansowanych użytkowników, wyprodukowana przez firmę Sony i dostępna na rynku od sierpnia 2010. Wyposażona jest w matrycę CMOS o efektywnej rozdzielczości 16.2 megapiksela (APS-C), ruchomy ekran LCD o przekątnej 3 cali i rozdzielczości 931 tys. punktów. Znajduje się w nim między innymi także przepuszczalne lustro, zapewniające możliwość ciągłego, automatycznego ostrzenia w trybie filmowym. Posiada wbudowaną, chowaną lampę błyskową. Wbudowany w korpus aparatu system SteadyShot umożliwia redukcję drgań matrycy również przy wykonywaniu fotografii z użyciem obiektywów nieposiadających wewnętrznej stabilizacji (np obiektywach amatorskich lub pochodzących z lustrzanek analogowych M42 - mocowanych z pomocą adaptera Sony Alfa/Konica Minolta do M42). We wrześniu 2010 r. firma Sony opublikowała notę serwisową dotyczącą aparatów Sony α55 i Sony α33 wyposażonych w przepuszczalne lustro. Problem opisany w nocie dotyczy nadmiernego nagrzewania się matrycy CMOS aparatów w trybie wideo, co powoduje automatyczne wyłączenie się go. W zależności od temperatury otoczenia oraz tego czy stabilizacja matrycy jest włączona, czas po którym aparat wyłącza się wynosi od 6 do ok. 30min. W listopadzie 2010 r. Sony α55 znalazło się na liście 50 najlepszych wynalazków roku 2010 według magazynu Time. (pl)
