- Solangi is a Sindhi Rajput clan which are living in India, Pakistan, Sindh, Sri Lanka, Burma and Afghanistan. Solangi are majority Muslim, but a large minority of Hindus belong to the Solangi. The Solangi ruled over regions of the Indian subcontinent for centuries. Solangi are a branch of the Agnikulla clan of Rajputs. In India, they are referred to as Solangi. According to S.M Channa they are Rajput and the word is taken from`Solakshana` which means` the man with special Sighns. Ghullam Hyder Mehjoor calls them Gujjar, Jat or Rajput race who are called Cholanki, Chalokya, Solanki or Solangi in many parts of modern India and Pakistan. Which have got success over Chohans in 931 A.C. Before Islam they were strict followers of Maha Shiva so people used to call them Mahashvi, Mashi or Machi. Khair Muhammad Buriro connects them with Gujjars and calls them one of oldest tribes of Sindh who ruled over Gujrat in the 10th century. James Todd have told their 16 branches in his book ` The history of Rajistan`.
