- Ralph J. Keyes (* 12. Januar 1945) ist ein amerikanischer Vortragsredner und Sachbuchautor, dessen Werk vor allem Ratgeber- und Motivationsliteratur umfasst. Sein Bestseller Is There Life After High School? wurde 1982 als Musical adaptiert und am Broadway aufgeführt. Sein 1995 erschienener Ratgeber The Courage to Write gilt in den Vereinigten Staaten als Standardwerk für von Selbstzweifeln geplagte Nachwuchsschriftsteller. Im deutschsprachigen Raum ist Keyes als Urheber des Ausdrucks „Post-truth“ bekannt geworden, dessen deutsche Lehnübersetzung „postfaktisch“ von der Gesellschaft für deutsche Sprache 2016 zum Wort des Jahres gewählt wurde. Das Buch, in dem Keyes sein Konzept von Post-truth vorgestellt hat – The Post-Truth Era: Dishonesty and Deception in Contemporary Life (2004) –, ist international allerdings kaum rezipiert worden und liegt bisher auch nur in der englischen Originalfassung vor. Keyes hat sich in seinen Vorträgen und Büchern mit vielen populären Themen beschäftigt, seine Perspektive ist jedoch vorrangig die eines Psychologen. (de)

More recently he has turned to language: researching quotations, words, and expressions.“Nice Guys Finish Seventh” and The Quote Verifier explore the actual sources of familiar quotations. I Love It When You Talk Retro is about common words and phrases that are based on past events. His most recent book is Euphemania: Our Love Affair with Euphemisms. (The British edition is titled Unmentionables: From Family Jewels to Friendly Fire, What We Say Instead of What We Mean.) Keyes has also written numerous articles for publications ranging from GQ to Good Housekeeping. An article he co-authored in 2002 won the McKinsey Award for Best Article of the Year in The Harvard Business Review.
