The Matapedia River (French: Rivière Matapédia) is a river in the Matapedia Valley in the province of Quebec, Canada. It runs on 65 kilometres (40 mi) from Matapedia Lake down to the village of Matapédia where it empties into the left bank of Restigouche River on the provincial border of New Brunswick. From the South side of Matapedia Lake and going to the South, the route 132 along the river goes on its entire length by the East bank.

Elle est un affluent sur la rive gauche de la rivière Restigouche, s'y déversant à Matapédia, face à la limite nord du Nouveau-Brunswick. Ce cours d'eau douce forme une frontière naturelle entre la région administrative du Bas-Saint-Laurent et celle de la Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine. La rivière constitue une fracture du nord au sud des monts Notre-Dame qui caractérisent le relief la péninsule gaspésienne. Le bassin de la rivière Matapédia draine une superficie de près de 3 900 km2. La rivière Matapédia est souvent surnommée la « Capitale du saumon ». À partir du côté sud du lac Matapédia et en se dirigeant vers le sud, la route 132 longe la rivière sur toute sa longueur par la rive est. Tandis que le chemin de fer du Canadien National passe au sud du lac Matapédia, poursuit sur la rive ouest de la rivière Matapédia jusqu'à Causapscal où le pont au sud du village le fait traverser sur la rive est. La voie ferrée continue alors vers le sud sur 8,5 km ; puis elle retraverse sur la rive ouest en empruntant le pont ferroviaire située à 1,1 km au nord de la confluence du ruisseau Doyle. La voie ferrée reste alors sur la rive ouest jusqu'au pont ferroviaire situé à la confluence de la rivière du Moulin. The river is a North South divide in the Notre Dame Mountains that characterize the relief of the Gaspé Peninsula. The Matapedia River basin drains an area of about 3,900 kilometres (2,423.35 mi). Matapedia River is often called the Salmon Capital . From the South side of Matapedia Lake and going to the South, the route 132 along the river goes on its entire length by the East bank. The Canadian National Railway passes South of Matapedia Lake continues on the West bank of the river in Causapscal where the bridge at South of the village made the railway cross on the East bank. The track then continues South on 8.5 kilometres (5.3 mi); then passes again in the West Bank via the railway bridge located at 1.1 kilometres (0.68 mi) North of the confluence of the creek Doyle. The railway then rest on the West bank up to the railway bridge at the confluence of the .
