- Mareşal (transl. Marshal) is the highest rank in the Turkish Land Forces and Turkish Air Force. It is the equivalent of a Field marshal in other countries. The rank of Mareşal can trace its origins to the Ottoman Empire, where the rank of Mushir (Arabic: مشير) was bestowed upon senior commanders upon order of the ruling Sultan. The word mariscalcus in Latin, had parts from the old-German words meaning horse and servant. The rank of Mareşal can only be bestowed by the National Assembly, and only given to a general who leads an army, and/or air force with an extraordinary success in battle gaining a victory over the enemy. The corresponding rank in the Turkish Navy is Büyük amiral. (en)

Una diferencia notable diferencia con otro rango es que el título de mareşal no se puede levantar con el retiro ni ganarse como honor de guerra. Este rango superior se ofrece durante la guerra, y se debe dar a un militar con el rango mínimo de general o sobre la base de las leyes del Parlamento a los oficiales con el rango de Almirante. (es)
- Maresciallo (in lingua turca: mareşal) è il grado più elevato nell'Esercito e dell'Aeronautica Militare della Turchia. Il grado equivale al rango di Maresciallo di campo in molti altri eserciti. Il grado di maresciallo può essere conferito unicamente dall'Assemblea Nazionale solo ad un generale che abbia condotto vittoriosamente in battaglia un’armata in almeno tre battaglie. Il grado corrispondente nella Marina turca è Büyükamiral, che letteralmente significa "grande ammiraglio" e viene conferito unicamente dall'Assemblea Nazionale e concesso solo ad un ammiraglio che abbia guidato con successo la vittoria di una grande flotta alla fine di una guerra. Il titolo non è stato mai concesso dopo la proclamazione della Repubblica. (it)
- Mareşal – najwyższy stopień w Türk Silahlı Kuvvetleri (Tureckich Siłach Zbrojnych), w polskiej literaturze zapisywany także jako Marszałek Turcji. Odpowiada marszałkowi polnemu. Jego odpowiednikiem w marynarce jest Büyük amiral (nikomu nienadany), który można uznać za odpowiednik wielkiego admirała. W wykazie stopni Sił Zbrojnych Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej Mareşal odpowiada marszałkowi Polski. Stopnia tego dosłużyło się tylko dwóch oficerów – Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (19 września 1921 roku) i Fevzi Çakmak (31 sierpnia 1922 roku). (pl)
