- Die Hanza Media (bis 1. Juli 2016 Europapress Holding oder EPH) ist der größte Zeitungs- und Zeitschriftenverlag Kroatiens mit Sitz in Zagreb. Seit Dezember 1998 bis Februar 2014 beteiligt sich die deutsche WAZ Mediengruppe mit 49 % an der EPH. In der EPH erscheinen unter anderem die zweitgrößte Tageszeitung Jutarnji list (durchschnittliche Auflage ca. 115.000 Exemplaren), die Sportzeitung (Auflage: ca. 40.000 Exemplare), die tägliche Wirtschaftszeitung , die Wochenzeitschriften Globus und . Dazu werden die kroatischen Ableger des Playboy und der Cosmopolitan verlegt. Im Verlag erscheinen insgesamt 18 Zeitschriftentitel mit einer durchschnittlichen Gesamtauflage von ca. 660.000 Exemplaren. Die EPH beteiligt sich mit Hilfe der deutschen WAZ Mediengruppe zudem an der Slobodna Dalmacija. 34,63 % des Konzerns, der sich zuvor im Besitz des kroatischen Staates befand, wurden jenem für 24,5 Millionen Kuna abgekauft, für weitere 83,46 Millionen Kuna übernahm die EPH im Jahr 2005 insgesamt 70 % an der Slobodna Dalmacija. Marijan Hanžeković war bis zu seinem Tod im Januar 2018 mit 100 % Teilhaber der Hanza Media. Damit war er der mächtigste Mann der kroatischen Medienszene. (de)

Hanza Media's consumer magazines are aimed at the public and range from general-interest titles, which appeal to a broad spectrum of readers, to highly specialist titles covering particular hobbies, leisure pursuits or other interest. Hanza Media also has strong national and international operations and is involved in printed media distribution, media production and tourism. At the end of the first decade of the century the EPH did not timely nor successfully adapt to market and financial crisis that hit the newspaper industry after 2008, primarily dramatically reducing resources from advertising and marketing. The decline of newspapers has been debated, as the industry has faced slumping ad sales, the loss of much classified advertising and precipitous drops in circulation. Faced with the impossibility of regular loan repayment, the ownership (Ninoslav Pavić and WAZ-Mediengruppe with 50 percent each) reached in February 2014 a pre-failure settlement with creditors. So 90 percent of the share passed into the hands of the Hypo Group, which soon sold its share to the local attorney and prominent distraint enforcer for state-owned national broadcaster HTV, . (en)
