- الحمداب مدينة أثرية قديمة في السودان تتبع للملكة الكوشية فترة المرحلة الثالثة من حضارة مروي ، تقع على بعد 3 كيلو مترات (1.9 ميل) إلى الشمال من مروي وتتكون من يفصل بينهما النيل مساحة كل منهما 200 متر طولاً و 250 متر عرضاً (660 قدم طولاً و 820 متر عرضاً) ويرتفع أحدهما 500 متر والآخر 250 متر، وتحيط بالتلال منازل بنيت من الطوب الطيني. ويبدوا أن المدينة هجرت في القرن الرابع الميلادي، وقد تم اقتباس هذا الاسم من قرية مجاورة في حين لا يزال الاسم الأصلي للمدينة مجهولاً إلى اليوم، وجرى استكشاف الموقع للمرة الأولى في العام 1914 م وتم اكتشاف معبد إلى الشمال الشرقي من الموقع عثر فيه علي أعمدة تخص الكنداكة أماني ريناس وإبنها الأمير اكينداد ، ويشتبه أن المعبد كان مكرساً لعبادة الإله آمون ولكن ذلك غير مؤكد، ويجري استكشاف الموقع منذ العام 2001 م. - Hamadab ist der Name eines Ortes in Sudan, bei dem sich Reste einer antiken Stadt befinden. Der Name wurde vom nahe gelegenen Dorf Dumat al Hamadab entlehnt, da der antike Name der Stadt vorerst unbekannt ist. Die antike Stadt Hamadab liegt circa 3 km südlich von Meroe und kann deshalb fast als ein Vorort von Meroe, ebenfalls eine unbewohnte Ruinenstadt, bezeichnet werden. Das Ruinenfeld besteht heute aus zwei Hügeln (200 × 250 m und 250 × 500 m), und ist damit ungefähr gleich groß wie Meroe. Die beiden Hügel werden von einem Nilarm getrennt, der allerdings im Winter kein Wasser führt. Sie sind etwa vier Meter höher als das Land am Nilufer. In der nordöstlichen der beiden Siedlungen wurde 1914 ein Tempel ausgegraben, vor dem sich zwei Stelen der Königin Amanirenas und des Akinidad fanden. Der im Tempel verehrte Gott ist unbekannt. Es wurde Amun vermutet. Neuere Grabungen in Hamadab finden seit 2001 statt. Demnach war das Stadtgebiet dicht mit Lehmziegel-Häusern bebaut und von einer Mauer umgeben. Ihre Ursprünge sind bisher unbekannt. Die Stadt scheint im 4. nachchristlichen Jahrhundert aufgegeben worden zu sein. (de)

The name is borrowed from the nearby village of al Dumat Hamadab, as the ancient name of the city is initially unknown. The ruins lie about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of Meroë. They consist of two hills, 200 by 250 metres (660 ft × 820 ft) in width and length, one being 500 metres (1,600 ft) in height, and the other being half of that. The two hills are separated from each other within the Nile. In 1914, a temple was excavated northeast of the settlement; it included pillars dedicated to Queen Amanirenas and her son, Akinidad. While Amun is suspected, it is unknown which god was worshiped in the temple. Other excavations have occurred since 2001. They revealed mud brick built houses surrounded by a wall. (en)
