- God’s Son (deutsch Sohn Gottes) ist das sechste Album des Rappers Nas. Es wurde im Dezember 2002 veröffentlicht und enthält unter anderem die Singles Made You Look, Get Down und I Can, ein Lied, dessen Melodie auf Beethovens Für Elise aufgebaut ist. Vom Time Magazine wurde God’s Son zum besten Hip-Hop-Album des Jahres 2002 ernannt. Nas widmete das Album seiner Mutter Ann Jones, die im April 2002 nach einer zweijährigen Chemotherapie an Brustkrebs starb. Anschließend ging Nas „energiegeladen“ ins Studio, um neue Lieder für God’s Son aufzunehmen. God’s Son wird als Nas persönlichstes Album bezeichnet, da sehr viele Details aus seinem Privatleben preisgegeben werden. Nas selbst erzählt, dass er in diesem Abschnitt seines Lebens sehr viele Erfahrungen gesammelt hat, die ihn reifer und stärker haben werden lassen. Er hat sich viel mehr auf Gefühle, Geist und Seele konzentriert anstatt auf Materielle Dinge und möchte dieses Wissen mit seinen Zuhörern teilen. God’s Son stieg auf Platz #12 der amerikanischen Album-Charts ein und wurde am 14. Januar 2003 mit 1 Mio. verkauften Tonträgern mit Platin verifiziert. In Deutschland konnte sich God’s Son zwei Wochen in den Album-Charts halten. Dabei belegte der Tonträger die Positionen 89 und 91.Die erste Single Made You Look soll eine Art New Yorker Straßenhymne sein.
