- يحظى التعليم في الجمهورية العربية السورية بالاهتمام والرعاية اللازمة لمنظومته من قبل الدولة السورية، إذ يكفل الدستور السوري حق التعلم لكل مواطن، وهو إلزامي ومجاني في مرحلة التعليم الأساسي، ومجاني لكن غير إلزامي في المرحلة الثانوية وبرسوم رمزية للتعليم الجامعي. بالرغم من معدل الزيادة العالي في عدد السكان في سوريا، الدولة السورية تمتلك نظام تعليمي أساسي جيد، فقد عزز الحزب الحاكم - حزب البعث - فكرة أن التعليم هو أحد أركان التطوير والاقتصاد في البلاد. - Education in the Syrian Arab Republic is given the necessary attention and care by the Syrian state, as the Syrian Constitution guarantees the right to education to every citizen, which is compulsory and free at primary level. It is free but not compulsory at the secondary level and higher education is available for a symbolic fee. the primary level includes 2 stages, 1 & 2 which include grades 1 to 6while the secondary school includes grades 7 to 10 Education is free and compulsory from ages 7 to 15. Arabic is the medium of instruction in the Syrian Arab Republic. English is taught from grade 1, and French or Russian is taught from grade 7 in the basic learning stage as the primary second language. According to the 2007 census, 98 percent of schools in Syria were public (state run), 1.8 percent were private, and 0.2 percent were United Nations Relief and Works Agency schools for children who are refugees. In 2007, there were 8 million students in the education system of Syria (4 million in basic education, 1.4 million in secondary and 2.3 million in tertiary). Given the current growth rate in the school age population, it is projected that by 2015, the education system in Syria will need to cater to an additional 1 million students in basic and secondary education. The school system in Syria is divided into basic and secondary education levels:
* 1st to 6th grade: Primary Education Level. From 1st to 4th grade, it’s called the First Ring (Arabic: حلقة أولى; halaka oula) while 5th & 6th grade are called Second Ring (Arabic: حلقة ثانية; halaka thania)
* 7th to 9th grade: Pre-Secondary Education Level (Arabic: تعليم إعدادي; taelim 'edady )
* 10th to 12th grade: Upper Secondary Education (Arabic: تعليم ثانوي; taelim thanawi), which is the equivalent of High School. Higher Education is the responsibility of the Ministry of Higher Education. (en)
- L'éducation en Syrie possède un système scolaire renforcé depuis 2000, notamment avec l’augmentation du budget consacré à l'éducation par le gouvernement syrien. En 2002, l'enseignement élémentaire et primaire ont été réunis en une seule étape de l'enseignement de base. L'enseignement est gratuit et obligatoire de la première à la neuvième année scolaire. Ainsi, l'enseignement est obligatoire de 7 à 15 ans. La langue d'enseignement principale en République Arabe Syrienne est l'arabe. À partir de la première année, les jeunes étudiants apprennent l'anglais. Le français est enseigné à partir de la septième année, en tant que langue secondaire principale. Selon un recensement en 2007, trois catégories d'écoles sont observables: publiques (98 %), privées (1.8 %) et écoles de l'Office de secours et de travaux des Nations Unies pour les jeunes réfugiés (0.2 %). La même année, on compte environ 8 millions d'étudiants dans le système éducatif syrien: 4 millions dans l'enseignement de base, 1,4 million dans le secondaire et 2,3 millions dans l'enseignement supérieur. Avec le taux de croissance de la population d'âge scolaire de l'époque, on estimait que le système éducatif syrien devrait accueillir environ 1 million d'élèves supplémentaires dans l'enseignement de base et secondaire d'ici 2015. La structure du système scolaire en Syrie est divisé en trois niveaux d'enseignement de base et secondaire :
* 1re à 6e année : niveau d'enseignement primaire. Du 1er au 4e année, il est appelé le "premier anneau" (en arabe : حلقة أولى ; Halaka oula), tandis que les 5 et 6e année sont appelés "second anneau" ( en arabe : حلقة ثانية ; halaka thanie )
* 7 à 9e année: niveau d'éducation pré-secondaire (en arabe : تعليم إعدادي ; taelim 'edady )
