- Bornwird (westfriesisch Boarnwert) ist ein Dorf in der Gemeinde Noardeast-Fryslân in der niederländischen Provinz Friesland. Es befindet sich westlich von Dokkum und hat 115 Einwohner (Stand: 1. Januar 2022). Die Einwohner von Bornwird leben hauptsächlich von der Viehzucht und das Dorf ist von Weideland umgeben. Bornwird wurde auf einer Warft, die ursprünglich größer als die Warften Brantgums und Foudgums war, gebaut. Doch ist ein Teil der Warft bereits abgetragen. In Bornwird gibt es eine Kirche aus dem 13. Jahrhundert, welche Maria geweiht ist. Bei Restaurierungsarbeiten in der Kirche 1987 kam eine Wandmalerei mit der Darstellung von Christophorus zum Vorschein. (de)
- Bornwird (West Frisian: Boarnwert) is a small village in Noardeast-Fryslân in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 119 in January 2017. Before 2019, the village was part of the Dongeradeel municipality. The village was first mentioned in 944 as Brunnenuur, and means "terp with a spring". The Dutch Reformed church was built in the 13th century. In 1840, it was home to 84 people. In 1910, the terp of Bornwird was excavated and prehistoric urns were discovered. In 1966 and 1967, archaeological excavation was performed in Bornwird during the construction of the Holwerd to Dokkum road. A stone axe, flint artefacts, and potsherds were discovered from the Late Bronze Age proving that the most northern area which was regularly flooded had been settled for a long time. (en)

Bornwird ligt ten noordoosten van Raard, ten zuidoosten van Foudgum en ten noordwesten van Dokkum. De bewoning van het dorp ligt ten zuidwesten van de en de N356. Het kent spaarzame bebouwing op de plek van de oude terp en de meeste bebouwing ligt aan de weg naar Raard, de Raarderwei. Het dorp heeft geen echte bebouwde kom en heeft daarom alleen witte plaatsnaamborden. Bornwird werkt veel samen met Raard en Foudgum. In 2021 telde het dorp 120 inwoners. Onder het dorp vallen ook de buurtschappen Betterwird en Bornwirdhuizen. (nl)
