- Η μάχη της Πτολεμαΐδας αναφέρεται σε δύο ξεχωριστά περιστατικά, το πρώτο κοντά από το χωριό Σωτήρη βόρεια της Πτολεμαΐδας και το δεύτερο κοντά στο χωριό Προστάσιος νότια της Πτολεμαΐδας. Και τα δύο γεγονότα έλαβαν χώρα στις 13 Απριλίου 1941 κατά τη διάρκεια της γερμανικής εισβολής στην Ελλάδα. Η μάχη της Πτολεμαΐδας έδωσαν χρόνο ώστε να υπάρξει θετική έκβαση στις ενέργειες που διεξήχθησαν από τις συμμαχικές μονάδες υπό τη γενική διοίκηση της βρετανικής πρώτης θωρακισμένης ταξιαρχίας κατά της γερμανικής 9ης μεραρχίας, ώστε να καλύψουν την αποχώρηση των συμμάχων από τις θέσεις τους στο Κλειδί Ημαθίας και στο Βέρμιο προς τη νέα αμυντική γραμμή του Όλυμπου - Αλιάκμωνα - Άσκιο. - The Battle of Ptolemaida refers to two distinct engagements, the first around the village of Sotir north of Ptolemaida and the second around the village of Proasteion south of Ptolemaida, both fought on 13 April 1941 during the German invasion of Greece. These battles were delaying actions fought by Allied units under the overall command of the British 1st Armoured Brigade against the German 9th Panzer Division, to cover the Allied escape from their positions at Mt. Vermion toward the new defensive line of Mt.Olympus – river Aliakmon – Mt. Siniatsikon. (en)
