Brat summer is long over, but Charli XCX’s acting era has only just begun. The pop star has confirmed a movie with A24, based on an idea of her own, which she’ll be starring in and producing. The film’s plot details are still under wraps, but it’s confirmed to be titled The Moment.
The movie will mark the first endeavor for her recently formed production company, Studio365, and serve as the feature directorial debut for Scottish photographer and filmmaker Aidan Zamiri. The screenplay was co-written by Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, while BRAT co-producer A.G. Cook will compose the score.
Buzz around The Moment marks the latest in film news for Charli, who will also be appearing in a remake of the 1978 horror film Faces of Death, an adventure comedy titled Sacrifice, a Poland-based Pete Ohs film titled Erupcja, and Overcompensating, the Benito Skinner comedy series where she earned a guest role.
Additionally, she’s slated appear in Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights a Hero, as well as an erotic thriller, I Want Your Sex, led by Olivia Wilde. She’ll also star alongside Jenna Ortega, Natalie Portman, and Catherine Zeta-Jones in Cathy Yan’s upcoming production, The Gallerist.
While this many credits might sound like a hard pivot for the artist, who is still slated to take BRAT on an arena tour this year, she’s clearly been doing her homework; Charli’s Letterboxd account was discovered toward the end of 2024, revealing a number of witty reviews and insights into her film taste.
