Die Royal Air Force ist heute stärker als die deutsche und italienische Luftwaffe zusammen.

In Amerika wurden allein im April 1943 7 000 Flugzeuge fertiggestellt.

Die amerikanische Flugzeugindustrie hat am 31. Mai das 100 000. Flugzeug für diesen Krieg geliefert.

Amerika produziert heute mehr Flugzeuge als Deutschland, Italien und Japan zusammen.

Das sind die Tatsachen. Was folgt daraus? Man könnte sagen: Was die Engländer ausgehalten haben, können die Deutschen auch aufhalten.

Aber der Vergleich hinkt. Die englisch-amerikanische Luftoffensive gegen Deutschland ist bereits jetzt weit schwerer als die deutsche Luftoffensive gegen England je war. In ihrem schwersten Angriff auf eine englische Stadt (London, 10. Mai 1941) warf die Luftwaffe 450 000 Kilogramm Bomben in einer Nacht.

In ihrem bisher schwersten Angriff auf eine deutsche Stadt (Dortmund, 23. Mai 1941) warf die R.A.F. 2 000 000 Kilogramm Bomben in einer Nacht. Viermal soviel — und das ist erst der Anfang.

Der Engländer konnten standhalten, weil sie wussten: Wenn sie standhalten, musste es besser werden. Sie hatten kaum angefangen zu rüsten. Sie kamen erst in Gang. Sie wussten, dass ihre eigene Luftmacht und Verteidigung von Tag zu Tag wuchs.

Sie sahen amerikanische Kriegsmaterial in Massen ankommen und sie konnten hoffen, dass Amerika eines Tages als Verbündeter an ihrer Seite stehen würde.

Was haben heute die Deutschen zu hoffen, wenn sie sich standhaft weiter bomben lassen?

Neue Verbündete gibt es nicht mehr. Deutschlands eigene Kampfkraft lässt nach. Die englisch-amerikanische wächst von Tag zu Tag.Deutschlands Fabriken werden bombardiert. Seine Produktion ist um 20% gesunken. Amerikas Produktion ist „bombensicher“.

Deutschlands geschwächte Luftwaffe muss an drei Fronten kämpfen. Überall ist sie in der Defensive. Die R.A.F. und die amerikanische Heeresfliegerei haben, trotz Atlantik-Wall, eine Front im Herzen Deutschlands geschaffen. Die „Festung Europa“ hat kein Dach.

Daran ist nichts zu ändern. Die deutschen Arbeiter und Ingenieure, die in den Fabriken aushalten, können den Gang des Krieges nicht mehr wenden. Sie können dafür sorgen, dass noch mehr Bomben auf Deutschland fallen.

Es werden immer mehr werden von Monat zu Monat.

Wie lange soll dass noch so weiter gehen?

In April 1943 the RAF dropped more than 100 million kilograms of bombs on German industrial targets.

In May 1943 over 12 million kilograms of bombs were dropped.

In a single week in May, 750,000 kilograms of bombs fell on the Ruhr area.

Up to 1 June 1943 English aircraft have dropped over 100 million kilograms of bombs on Germany.

The Royal Air Force is today stronger than the German and Italian air force together.

In America 7000 aircraft were completed in April 1943 alone.

The American aircraft industry supplied its 100,000th aircraft for this war on 31 May.

America today produces more aircraft than Germany, Italy and Japan combined.

Those are the facts. What follows from this? One may say: What the English have endured, the Germans can also endure.

But the comparison is limping. The Anglo-American air offensive against Germany is already far heavier than the German air offensive against England ever was. In its heaviest attack on an English city (London, 10 May 1941) the Luftwaffe dropped 450,000 kilograms of bombs in one night.

In its heaviest attack so far on a German city (Dortmund, 23 May 1943) the RAF dropped 2,000,000 kilograms of bombs in one bought. More than four times as many — and that is just the start.

The English were able to hold out because they knew: If they held out, it must get better. They had hardly begun to arm themselves. They were only just getting going. They knew that their own air strength and air defenses were growing from day to day.

They saw American war materiel coming in masses and they could hope that America would one day stand by their side as allies.

What have the Germans today to hope for, if they steadfastly continue to let themselves be bombed [or be able to be bombed]?

There will be no new allies. Germany's own fighting strength is waning. The Anglo-American [fighting strength] is growing from day to day. Germany's factories are being bombed. Their production has dropped by 20%. America's production is "bomb-proof".

Germany's weakened air force must fight on three fronts. Overall it is on the defensive. The RAF and the American Army Air Forces have, despite the Atlantic Wall, achieved a front in the heart of Germany. "Fortress Europe" has no roof.

This cannot be changed. The German workers and engineers holding out in the factories can no longer turn the course of the war. They can only prolong the war. That means: They can ensure that even more bombs fall on Germany.

There will be ever more from month to month.
