Shortcuts: COM:AN/B • COM:AN/P • COM:RFPP

This is a place where users can communicate with administrators, or administrators with one another. You can report vandalism, problematic users, or anything else that needs an administrator's intervention. Do not report child pornography or other potentially illegal content here; e-mail legal-reports@wikimedia.org instead. If reporting threatened harm to self or others also email emergency@wikimedia.org.

Report users for clear cases of vandalism. Block requests for any other reason should be reported to the blocks and protections noticeboard.


Report disputes with users that require administrator assistance. Further steps are listed at resolve disputes.


Reports that do not suit the vandalism noticeboard may be reported here. Requests for page protection/unprotection could also be requested here.


Other reports that require administrator assistance which do not fit in any of the previous three noticeboards may be reported here. Requests for history merging or splitting should be filed at COM:HMS.

Requesting auto patrol protection for File:Syrian Civil War map.svg & File:Syrian opposition map November 2024.svg

Requesting protection on both of these files which have recently come under heavy edit warring. Any constructive edit by citing sources is instantly reverted on both these files. Multitude of users are changing how the control of this country should look like depending on their preference, without citing any source, what-so-ever. I believe auto patrol protection would stop the edit warring, and allow constructive editing, mainly citing sources, to take place.

Just to give an example on how ridiculous this file has gotten, it currently asserts that one of the Syrian rebel groups, RCA, controls 1/3rd of the country, even the capital Damascus. Despite the fact that this group has just 500 fighters. Ecrusized (talk) 11:03, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

RowanJ LP is edit warring, [1][2] and pushing for versions of the files that do not cite any sources, they also appear to be taking credit for other user's works like File:Syrian opposition map November 2024.svg. Lower protection for File:Map-TurkicLanguages.png

File:Map-TurkicLanguages.png was full protected in 2013 by User:Hedwig in Washington. Since they haven't edited here since 2022, it would appear impractical to ask them on their talk page to lower protection.

I've received a request at COM:OWR Commons:Overwriting existing files/Requests#Allow overwriting of File:Map-TurkicLanguages.png to add a revision that adds Kosovo to the list of minority Turkish speaking countries. So should protection be lowered to autoconfirm and I add the template or should it be lowered to autopatroller so this edit request could be done by an autopatroller?  Oppose "Please delete this photo permanently because this photo is too much blurred." is not a valid rationale for speedy deletion. I'm not sure protecting the page is the best option if there is only one user targeting it though; if they've already been told that their action is inappropriate (which I have just done in a talk page message) and they continue to repeat it, a block might be a better solution here. File:Syrian Civil War map.svg

Edit warring regarding map coloration continues after a recent protection expired. Editors are currently discussing the map coloration on the talk page, but people appear to be trying to edit war in their preferred version in the meantime. This should probably be restored to the file as it was prior to the start of the edit war, and I think that we probably need either full or template protection here so as to force editors to discuss rather than overwriting the file. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 17:22, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
