Deutsch: Eine Ketsch (auch: Ketch) ist ein Segelboot mit zwei Masten, dem vorderen Großmast und dem achterlichen, immer kleineren Besanmast. Dabei hat die Ketsch (im Gegensatz zur Yawl) ihren Besanmast innerhalb der (Konstruktions)- Wasserlinie. Andere Definitionen besagen „innerhalb der Länge zwischen den Loten“, also vor der Ruderachse oder „vor dem Rudergänger“.

English: A ketch is a sailing craft with two masts: a main mast, and a shorter mizzen mast abaft (rearward) of the main mast, but forward of the rudder post.

If the aft mast is abaft (rearward) of the rudder post, the vessel is a yawl. If the foremast is shorter than the aft mast, the vessel is a schooner.

Français : Un ketch est un voilier à deux mâts, dont le grand mât est situé à l'avant et le plus petit, appelé mât d'artimon, est sur l'arrière mais en avant de la mèche de safran (sans quoi il s'agit d'un yawl et non d'un ketch).

Nederlands: Een kits is een zeilschip met twee langsgetuigde masten, de achterste is ruim voor de positie van het roer geplaatst.
