Progress of the GitLab installation and migration scripts has been very good. With some last tests to go, we’re confident we can complete installation and migration on Friday March 20th, 2015. The window 08:00h - 12:00h UTC has been designated to perform installation and migration. For more details continue reading below the fold.
Thanks to the hard work of everyone in the team we have successfully (it seems) migrated common-lisp.net to a new machine.
While a lot of care went into ensuring that all services could be preserved, it is quite unlikely that we didn’t miss something. Please let us know if you find something that used to work but doesn’t anymore by writing to clo-devel(at)common-lisp.net.
We will migrate the site to a newer, more powerful machine with an up-to-date Debian stable on monday, at 11:00 am CET. Quite a bit of work has gone into preparations to ensure that the disruption will be as brief as possible (hopefully less than an hour, plus the DNS propagation lag)
All services will continue to be available in their current form. By monday afternoon, the big difference will be a shiny new website with new content, as well as a more responsive experience.
The move to a new server marks the beginning of a new era for the site. You can read some background on the migration here.
The common-lisp.net site will move to a new server soon (one or two weeks at most). Watch this space for details.
Update (2014-09-16): We haven’t moved yet. We had some unexpected technical difficulties and are working on a solution. We will keep you updated.
