To address increasing energy fluctuations in the Baltic Sea region driven by growing wind and solar generation, Cubenergy deployed a 22.4MW/42MWh BESS at a key coastal grid node. Located near critical transmission infrastructure, the BESS serves as a buffer for offshore wind farms, alleviating congestion while optimizing power flow. Its placement ensures efficient power flow management. With millisecond-level response times, the system delivers vital grid services, ensuring rapid stabilization during frequency deviations. At the onset of this year, amid one of the harshest Nordic winters in recent memory, Cubenergy delivered a BESS project under extraordinary conditions. During deployment, our Europe-based Field Service Engineers (FSEs) demonstrated proactive preparedness. When temperatures abruptly plunged to -25°C, the team conducted critical onsite fine-tuning to ensure uninterrupted operation throughout the extreme weather event. Our FSEs swiftly adapted system parameters to meet dynamic grid dispatch demands, rigorously validating performance at ultra-low temperatures. Designed for harsh environments, the project underwent real-world stress-testing and optimization to guarantee stability. Cubenergy successfully delivered a 10MW/11MWh BESS project in the Netherlands to support frequency regulation for smaller-scale grid applications. During the early development phase, local residents raised concerns regarding safety and environmental impact. As a responsible partner, Cubenergy applied its robust ESG principles and took an active role in the project development. We implemented a comprehensive fire protection strategy aligned with international safety standards and developed a site-specific Emergency Response Plan (ERP). The project underwent strict environmental assessments to reduce noise and minimize its footprint. Cubenergy partnered with an Independent Power Producer (IPP) to deploy a 24MW/41MWh BESS in Belgium.   “Grid code compliance was key for this project,” said the IPP’s project director. “It’s what our long-term contract with the utility hinges on.” Cubenergy worked closely with the IPP and grid operators to ensure the system met all dynamic response requirements. “We were especially impressed by Cubenergy’s deep understanding of the grid code,” said the IPP’s project manager. “They anticipated questions from the utility and gave us everything we needed. Last week, our European team was on-site at one of Cubenergy’s BESS projects for inspection and final fine-tuning before grid connection. Our regional engineers conducted a comprehensive performance verification and validated all communication and control links to ensure seamless integration with the grid. One of Cubenergy’s key customers partnered with us to deploy a 16MW/32MWh BESS project in Sweden to enhance behind-the-meter flexibility. The customer operates a facility with high and variable energy demands. This site had been flagged by the local utility as a grid congestion hotspot, vulnerable to capacity shortfalls. By co-optimizing our BESS with utility-owned generation assets, the project supports peak shaving and load balancing. It serves as a flexible buffer that stabilizes on-site energy use, alleviates grid stress, and improves local power quality. This deployment transformed the facility from a passive energy consumer into a responsive grid asset. Cubenergy deployed a 10MW/20MWh grid-forming BESS in a remote region of Nordic Europe characterized by a weak and intermittently unstable grid. The project is configured with advanced grid-forming capabilities, including Virtual Synchronous Generator(VSG) functionality to provide synthetic inertia, dynamic voltage regulation, and fast frequency response. Commissioned in under 3 months, it completes installation, integration with local SCADA, and grid compliant testing. By strengthening grid-forming capacity, our BESS allows the local network to operate independently of synchronous generation, enabling the secure hosting of high levels of intermittent renewable energy.
