With only one dissenting vote, the City Council agreed Wednesday to freeze the hourly pay of Chicago’s tipped workers at 76% of the minimum wage for the next two years for large restaurants, and for four more years for smaller establishments with 21 or fewer employees.
The restaurant’s owner is suing Midway Airport’s master concessionaire, accusing SSP America of using Gene & Georgetti’s “trademarks, trade secrets” and other of “confidential information”— including recipes, ingredients, suppliers and marketing strategies— only to change the menu in a way that destroys the restaurant’s reputation and brand.

The hot dog stand has until June 30 to leave its primary location at 1250 S. Union Ave. and plans to open in the fall at a new location in Pilsen.
