➕ Good news from Swiss climate-tech leaders! ➕ Winning the big automotive companies as customers is impossible for a small startup? Think again. Fribourg-based startup Bcomp Ltd has developed ampliTex and powerRibs reinforcement technologies used to manufacture lightweight, rigid composites that reduce the environmental impact of products through weight reduction, dematerialisation, renewable raw materials and sustainable end-of-life options. 🚗 The startup has now collaborated with automotive company Kia Europe on the EV3 and EV4 electric vehicle concepts, which feature a unique and exclusive ampliTex colour. Besides creating a positive environmental impact of vehicles, the materials enable lightweight and thinner seat designs. This collaboration marks another significant step towards widespread integration of Bcomp's natural and sustainable materials in automotive interior design. 🌱 "Our collaboration with Kia Europe is proof that our solutions will spread into mainstream mobility. Over the past decade, as an active member of the Swiss Venture Ecosystem, I participated in over 100 venture transactions, supported many founders on their journey, co-founded Aare Ventures, by now one of the now largest Swiss business angel clubs, and took part in numerous venture initiatives across Switzerland. 💻 Last week we hopped into the metaverse and joined the 1MillionStartups event by ViennaUP and joined our vice president Selma Prodanovic🎤 in her keynote speech on the Selma Effect. During this session she discussed the importance of entrepreneurship and how it is leading change for a better future. Solving problems is what it means to truly be an innovator and supporting them is how we can turn those solutions into viable practices. With diversity being the instigator for innovation, Selma and 1Million Startups is continuing their focus on pushing for global change to provide equal opportunity for startups and entrepreneurs. Following this we had a very impactful conversation with the startups from the UN Women Europe and Central Asia who joined this year's EBAN Annual Congress. The founders from CoffeeTalk, Shipsider, Ozim Platform, and Doctor Yan all came together to discuss the difficulties and challenges of being a woman founder with our Event Director Ismar Lacevic. They addressed the difficulties of finding investors with one startup noting that even though an investor did not want to fund her project for fear she might get pregnant, she was so driven that she pitched on the EBAN Congress stage during her pregnancy. The group would then talk about how important it is to be part of this community of founders that UN Women has provided and how it has inspired them to continue striving for success. This was truly an amazing and unique experience which brought to the forefront issues that are often overlooked.
