🎉 The outlook for the #Swiss #export industry has now brightened!  🔎  Swiss #SMEs are more optimistic about the coming months than they were six months ago. Export sentiment, as measured by Switzerland Global Enterprise in a semi-annual survey of export-oriented Swiss SMEs, increased by 11.2 points. Swiss Single Family Offices: Embracing Peer-to-Peer Collaboration in Investments Recent survey data reveals a significant trend among Swiss Single Family Offices towards valuing peer relationships. An impressive 96% of Swiss SFO respondents seek regular exchanges with their peers, highlighting a strong preference for collaboration. Key areas of focus for these collaborations include: 💠 Investment Knowledge Sharing: Top priority for 88% of respondents. 💠 Operations: A key area for 41% of respondents. 💠 Risk Management: Important for 38% of respondents. Despite Switzerland's longstanding culture of privacy, SFOs are increasingly recognizing the power of shared insights. This data underscores a growing trend of family offices looking to peers for best practices and co-investments, thereby acknowledging the immense value of community. The accompanying chart, sourced from the "Swiss Single Family Office Landscape Report 2024," published last month by the SFOA - Swiss Single Family Office Association in collaboration with UBS and the University of St. Gallen, provides further insights. In Japan, the opening of a new Swissnex main location in Osaka was a major milestone: Consulate of Switzerland, Swissnex in Japan. Swissnex in India, Consulate General of Switzerland unveiled the Indo-Swiss Innovation Platform, a conduit for fostering collaboration between India and Switzerland in #health, #sustainability, and digital transformation. With the "Metropolis" program, Swissnex in San Francisco hosted three events in Switzerland, followed by a multi-day festival in the USA. In China, Swissnex in China ramped up its activities with the "InCube Challenge", connecting young Swiss talents with Chinese offices of global corporations. The area of startup internationalization achieved further expansion, with Swissnex in Boston and New York launching the "Climate Collider" in collaboration with Innosuisse. This exchange program aims to build a transatlantic startup community and foster international collaboration in climate innovation. Moreover, Swissnex in Brazil bolstered the visibility of Swiss entrepreneurship, enabling 11 Swiss startups to showcase their innovations at Web Summit Rio, one of the world's most relevant technology conferences. FIND Workshop – Academia + FinTech + Innosuisse💡 On 16 October 2024, the Swiss Financial Innovation Desk (FIND) hosted a workshop at the Bernerhof in Bern, bringing together academia, FinTech entrepreneurs, and Innosuisse. 🎯 The event aimed to raise awareness of Innosuisse’s support instruments for FinTech, encourage science-driven innovation within higher education, and share best practices to boost the growth of Switzerland's FinTech ecosystem. 🔎 The workshop was grounded in a key observation: very few FinTechs are represented in Innosuisse’s portfolio. In fact, out of 2'565 projects funded by Innosuisse between 2018 and 2024, only 40 were FinTech-related. ☝🏻This striking underrepresentation highlights the need for more targeted efforts to bridge the gap between FinTech startups, academia, and innovation funding opportunities. Participants engaged in dynamic discussions about Innosuisse’s funding structures and explored strategies to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry in the FinTech sector. 💡The workshop resulted in concrete recommendations for reinforcing Switzerland’s position as a leader in FinTech innovation. In 2024, 97 startup projects from Swiss universities received seed capital. By 2027, this is expected to double to 200 annually. By 2033, investors will have contributed CHF 50 billion to 3,000 startups, creating 100,000 jobs. "The main reason for Venture Kick's growth is the increasing demand from highly qualified researchers who aim to take their innovations from the lab to the market and address real-world challenges," explain Beat Schillig and Jordi Montserrat, Co-Managing Directors of Venture Kick.
