Loris De Bona, our Senior Mechanical Designer, joined Mikron in 1984 in Agno as an apprentice. When the engineering department moved from Boudry to Agno, Loris completed his engineering apprenticeship and became a full member of the Mikron Machining team. During his years at Mikron Machining, Loris grew both personally and professionally and attributes much of his growth to the guidance of Alain Buisson and Adriano Nicora in the 1990s, whom he still remembers with great admiration and emotion. Their encouragement and belief in his potential motivated him to constantly strive for excellence. In the mid-1990s, Loris joined our maintenance (nowadays Service Solutions) and R&D department, where he spent the next four years, working on machine upgrades, improvements and new applications, gaining practical experience and in-depth technical knowledge. In 2008, Loris moved to Mikron Machining Respeed, taking care about our used machine business. Working alongside Carmine Ruotolo, whom he highly regards, they successfully reconditioned used high precision Mikron Machining equipment for new markets and new customers. For the past few years, Loris has been an integral part of Mikron's Service Solutions department, along with Enrico Tumminaro. He currently works with a team of five designers on spare parts requests, minor overhauls and various projects. Reflecting on his career, Loris highlights two particularly memorable projects: The development of high-precision roundtable Mikron Machining solutions for the production of pistons and connecting rods for refrigerator compressors in the late 1990s, and the design of high-precision roundtable Mikron Machining solutions for the automotive market, in particular components for truck engine valve balancers. Loris' story is one of continuous learning, resilience, change and innovation. In June 1989, Ezio Pellini started working at Mikron Machining in the Material department and after 3 years moved to the IT department.   Ezio was witness of the incredibly evolution of IT services, from the humble beginnings of basic computing in the accounting department, through the digital revolution ushered in by the internet, to today's dynamic landscape shaped by big data, AI, and IoT. Together with 4 people in his team, today Ezio takes care of all the IT infrastructure services. "I like every day in my job, because I have the opportunity to support with solutions - for simple PC issues of a user to more complex IT security solutions for the company. Most people in the company know me, and it makes me happy that people can rely on me. IT is an ever-evolving force that reshapes our world daily and it is this aspect, that after 35 years in the business inspires me daily to learn about new solutions". Giancarlo Amantia joined Mikron Machining in 2017 and for the past 4 years has been working in the pre-assembly department, focusing on mechanical assembly and validation testing of numerical control units. Outside of work, Giancarlo's passion is music, a love that began when, as a teenager, he spent entire afternoons listening to his cousin, a conservatory student, playing the piano. At 15, Giancarlo picked up his first instrument and started playing in his garage with a small band, inspired by the music of Queen. Since then, he has been performing in local areas whenever the opportunity arises. Giancarlo is a versatile musician, skilled in playing drums, guitar and bass. His favorite genres are blues and rock, and he also runs a YouTube channel where he records and shares his music. The blues, the genre that deeply inspires Giancarlo, has its roots in African-American history and originated in the southern United States in the late 19th century. Known for its expressive melodies and emotional depth, the blues has influenced countless musical styles, including rock, which Giancarlo loves. He dedicates himself to his music whenever he can, keeping this rich tradition alive through his creativity.
