🚀 RFID-Equipped Drones – A Global Collaboration Powered from Greater Zurich 🌍 Verity and On, based in Greater Zurich, partnered with A.P. Moller - Maersk to test 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼-𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗥𝗙𝗜𝗗) 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 in a high-volume warehouse in California. 🚀 Reinforcement Learning in Action – The Next Leap in Mobility 𝗨𝗠𝗩, the 𝗨𝗹𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗩𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲, developed by the RAI Institute in Greater Zurich, is redefining AI-driven robotics. Using 𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 (RL), this autonomous machine balances, jumps, and drives with exceptional agility, reaching speeds 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 than quadrupedal robots. 🔍 Instead of relying on traditional physical stabilizers like gyroscopes, the UMV achieves control through precise, AI-powered mass and motion adjustments. “We’re demonstrating two things,” explains Marco Hutter, director of the RAI Institute’s Zurich office. “One is how reinforcement learning helps make the UMV very robust in diverse situations. Humanoids are here and they’re ready to transform industries!   AI-driven humanoid #robots are no longer science fiction, as our colleague Noah Zahnd experienced firsthand at the International Humanoid Forum. Companies like Booster Robotics and Unitree Robotics demonstrated advanced humanoids that are quickly moving from research labs to real-world applications. The market is evolving fast. While Goldman Sachs predicted a $38B #humanoid robotics market by 2035, Figure AI alone has already surpassed that valuation. As industries face skilled labour shortages, humanoids are stepping in to automate increasingly complex tasks and augment human capabilities. Swiss students successfully launch a reusable rocket 🚀 Last year, the ARIS team successfully launched their 3.7-meter “Nicollier” #rocket, built for reliability and reusability. It reached a height 1000 meters before it deployed its parachute and safely landed just 6.5 meters from the target, a near-perfect hit according to the team. 🔧 ARIS (Academic Space Initiative Switzerland) is a student-run organization with 200 aspiring engineers and researchers working on projects like rocket engines and even satellites. Their work pushes the boundaries of #aerospace engineering, proving that cutting-edge #SpaceTech isn’t just for major agencies. 💡 Projects like these perfectly reflect the culture of #innovation in Greater Zurich.
