Internship Completed! I am thrilled to share that I have successfully completed my six-month internship at DePoly in Sion, Switzerland! As part of my Master’s in Molecular & Biological Chemistry, I had the opportunity to work on innovative projects aimed at optimizing the 𝗗𝗲𝗣𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 for new feedstocks and plastics. This experience not only enhanced my technical skills but also strengthened my 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺-𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 abilities in research. Throughout this journey, I had the privilege of working alongside an 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺. Their expertise, the availability of advanced instruments, and the collaborative environment made this an enriching and inspiring experience. My contributions focused on developing 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀, which helped further the understanding of new feedstock feasibility. I am proud of the progress we made together. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Samantha Anderson, Dr. Bardiya Valizadeh, and Dr. Christopher Ireland for giving me this opportunity in such an ambitious and dynamic start-up. I feel truly fortunate to have been surrounded by 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀, both inside and outside the lab. I would also like to express my deep gratitude to: Dr. Pelin Uran, for her exceptional leadership and valuable insights during our meetings. Dr. Sylvain Sudan, for his outstanding supervision, trust, and flexibility, which allowed me to take ownership of my project while always being available for guidance. His insights helped me grow as a researcher and made this internship truly rewarding. Dr. Sanaz Soodi, for the opportunity to contribute to her project and for her support, encouragement, and generosity in sharing her expertise throughout my internship. 🌍 Welcoming Ismail Zitouni, our new R&D intern! 🌟 Ismail is in his final year as an Industrial Chemistry Engineering student at the National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (INSAT) in Tunisia. With a strong focus on materials science, polymers, and sustainable technologies, he brings valuable academic and professional experience to our team. He’s worked on projects ranging from CO2 emission reduction and material recycling to advanced composites research, applying techniques like FTIR, TGA, and GC-MS to tackle pressing environmental challenges. Beyond the lab, Ismail is a true polyglot, fluent in Arabic, French, English, German, and Chinese. 🌐 He’s also a sustainability enthusiast, participating in hackathons and competitions to develop eco-friendly solutions like low-CO2 alternatives and recycling systems for demolition waste. Fun Fact: Ismail explores the world through his love of cooking!
