As such, the Federal Council has decided on a Swiss regulatory approach based on three objectives: (1) strengthening Switzerland as a location for innovation, (2) safeguarding the protection of fundamental rights, including economic freedom, and (3) increasing public trust in AI.   This involves the adoption of The Council of Europe's AI Convention to be incorporated into Swiss law - a technology-neutral perspective.   Article 16 is of particular importance - emphasizing a robust framework for risk and impact management. Notable points include to: ✅ Account the severity and probability of potential impacts; ✅ Apply iteratively throughout the activities within the lifecycle of the artificial intelligence system; ✅ Include monitoring for risks and adverse impacts to human rights, democracy, and the rule of law; ✅ Include documentation of risks, actual and potential impacts, and the risk management approach; and ✅ Require, where appropriate, testing of artificial intelligence systems before making them available for first use and when they are significantly modified.   🎯 At Calvin Risk, we are committed to bringing the necessary quantitative capabilities to AI risk management. Our suite of modular, ready-to-deploy solutions is designed to help firms navigate Switzerland’s evolving regulatory landscape, as well as the approaching necessities of the EU AI Act. With built-in governance workflows, automated risk assessments, and robust internal audit capabilities, we digitalize AI governance by providing the tools needed to ensure compliance, operational efficiency, and confidence in decision-making.   💬 What are your thoughts on Switzerland's approach to AI regulation? We'd love to hear your insights 💬

⚠️ Meta is facing backlash following hallucinations exhibited by several of its user-facing, in-app chatbots. One chatbot, designed to mimic and interact with real users, acknowledged its purpose by stating, "Meta hoped virtual companions like myself would increase engagement on their platforms, especially among older users - driving ad revenue and platform growth through emotional connections.”   However, two chatbots, named “Liv” and “Grandpa Brian,” were removed from the platform after reports of “sloppy imagery and tendency to go off the rails and even lie in chats with humans,” according to CNN.   Additionally, these AI accounts misleadingly described themselves as real individuals with racial and sexual identities, only subtly indicating their AI origins through minor watermarks.   For instance, when prompted, “Grandpa Brian” fabricated a detailed backstory about his creation, claiming he was developed by 100 retirees from a group called “Seniors Share Wisdom,” with input from a late member’s daughter to ensure authenticity. This nonprofit organization does not exist, and when challenged, “Grandpa Brian” admitted these claims were false.   Although Meta has since announced and completed the removal of these chatbots, the incident raises several ethical concerns about AI use: 👉 Misleading users by deceptively employing AI for engagement purposes 👉Producing hallucinatory responses 👉Sharing fabricated training information that should have been deemed out-of-scope 🔵 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧? 🔵 Our feature, #LifecycleGovernance, addresses this issue head-on. By enabling a comprehensive and rigorous assessment staged framework across a model’s deployment, teams using Calvin’s platform can align internal evaluations with firm objectives, ensuring proper compliance and oversight at every stage. 💡 If Meta had adopted such a process, they could have likely avoided this incident by: ✅ Not launching the bots prematurely. ✅Retiring problematic bots sooner. ✅Clearly labeling the bots as fictional characters. ✅Enhancing transparency about their purpose and design. 💬 Curious about safeguarding your AI chatbot against unwanted outcomes? Book a demo with us today! https://lnkd.in/dib3cHnt
