The Sursee substation, a critical part of Switzerland’s power grid, has been successfully modernized. This complex project, completed in just nine months, involved dismantling outdated infrastructure, installing new AIS equipment, upgrading the earthing system, and integrating advanced protection barriers. The project was executed by PFIFFNER Group Systems AG, with key contributions from Haveco AG, MGC Moser-Glaser AG, ALPHA Elektrotechnik AG, and PFIFFNER Instrument Transformers. 🔧 Field Insights 🔍      We are proud to support the FLIRT passenger train project for the Portuguese operator CP in collaboration with Stadler Valencia, offering precise Length Determination Services and delivering a range of rolling stock products from ALPHA Elektrotechnik AG.     As part of this exciting project, ALPHA-ET is providing High Voltage Cables, including Roof Cables, Jumper Cables, and Post Insulators. We are excited to announce the successful completion of our project for the Swiss national grid company Swissgrid AG at their substation in Sursee, Canton Lucerne, Switzerland. The 220 kV air-insulated substation “Sursee” has been operational since 1981 and has reached the end of its planned service life. Swissgrid has decided to construct a modern facility at the exact location that meets current technological and ecological standards. This substation replacement project showcased the combined strengths of our brands within the PFIFFNER Group. PFIFFNER Systems served as the turnkey project and engineering lead. Haveco AG provided complete installation services, MGC Moser-Glaser AG supported the design, instrument transformers from PFIFFNER, and our disconnectors were efficiently coordinated and delivered. Our scope of supply comprised Pantographs TFP, Center Break Disconnectors CBD, and Earthing Switches EF. This collaboration reflects our commitment to offering integrated solutions in the energy sector. Thank you to Swissgrid for their trust and to all our internal and external partners. Change of leadership at the PFIFFNER Group On January 1st, 2025, Dr. Jürgen Bernauer, the first CEO of the PFIFFNER Group, will hand over his position to his successor. After six successful years as group leader, he is consciously stepping down to have more time for his family and himself. He will stay with us as a board member to preserve his experience for the PFIFFNER Group. We want to thank him for his valuable leadership and commitment! Marcel Rüfenacht will become the new CEO of the PFIFFNER Group. With his impressive international experience, Marcel brings a fresh perspective to our company.
